I like both rugs.

Need to see a better photo of the living room and dining room.

Dining room cabinet takes up way too much precious space and the rug is too close to the window.

Living room sofa, could it be faced to the fireplace?

I think you should go ahead and then decide which fits best where.

The rug in the living room is very light and might work best with the darker dining set.

Part of the reason I have it so close to the window is that the light above the table would be completely off center. I suppose I just need to get a smaller table and ditch the china cabinet. It was my husband's from a long time ago and he really thinks we should keep it.

If I move the sofa to face the fireplace, the back of the sofa would be facing the kitchen. I just remodeled my kitchen and it is now the prettiest part of the open floor plan.
