living room furniture design/layout

Hi,

Wondering if anyone can offer some ideas on furniture layout for the living room space. Dimensions are roughly 14ft from step to window and 12ft from fireplace to wall. Many thanks!

Cool space . But we need a bit more info. How much seating, do you need a TV in here what is the space the step up?

I would do a sectional here. Perfect space for it! Get a sectional and a rug to fill the room with a coffee table with some flowers, candles , a tray on it... curtains on the windows and possibly a new light!! Really cute space!!!

Seating would be for 3 most of the time, a few more with guests over. I’ll attach pictures of the stairs and patio door to give more perspective...the stairs go the entire width of the room (we just moved so excuse the random toys in the pictures).
We are contemplating a tv over the fireplace, one of those frameless ones that looks like a picture. We were thinking of a sectional that goes on the main wall and into the front of the windows but thought it might look odd blocking the windows...there is also a view out the windows as well.
We have white roller blinds for the windows as well, we just painted so they have to get re-installed. I’ve attached a picture from a different room for what the blinds look like.

Perfect. The blinds are great. The sectional is fine to block a bit of window. And eitherway should not be placed against the wall so don’t think that’s a problem

As far as the tv goes I think that’s the best wall for it also.

I’ve decided on getting a sectional for the space to go along the long wall (across from the fireplace) and in front of the window. I’m having trouble finding a sectional big enough for the area that doesn’t cost an absolute fortune. I’m wondering how big should the sectional be to look good in the space? Should it be nearly the length of the long wall so that it aligns with the end of the fireplace? I’ve found some sectionals that are smaller and end more around the halfway point of the fireplace and I think that may look weird. I will attach a photo- the red line is for a sectional with a lounger that goes under the window, the green line is for a sectional without a lounger as it has armrests on either end. Thoughts? Suggestions?

    Thanks!

The couch options that I think may be too small are below.

I found the below couch...would get the sectional but in the cream color. The length on the back wall is good and it will go to about the end of the fireplace. It will go under the window to between the red and green lines in the above picture. I taped it out on the floor but am now having second thoughts about putti such a big piece of furniture in the room...

There will be about 35inches between the end of the couch and stairs for a side table and there is about 33 inches from the end of the couch and the patio door.

First of all, you should pick a focal point, and the fireplace looks like a great place for that. A TV on top of it makes a good point of entertainment. Now, with that as a focal point, start arranging furniture around it.

You need a seating space, for which a sofa opposite the fireplace goes well. Place a table between the couch and the fireplace to make space for keeping things like eatables. A side table would also add more functional space for small items like a remote and your smartphone. You can use the space above the step for additional functions like placing more seating space, a small playing table, an area for kids, or anything else.

As for the colors, you got white walls and a brown base. Furniture with a neutral shade like one from creams and grays would look good, but you can choose the one according to your personal preferences.
