What color siding with beige brick?

We have a single-story house built in 1971. It's beige brick with the porch and converted garage done in siding. We've completely renovated/updated the inside and are starting to work on the outside. I'd like it a little more contemporary but not clashing with our older neighborhood. 3 houses in the area have been renovated and sold (flipped?). All 3 have painted the bricks white. I want to keep my bricks the original beige but paint the vinyl siding. I'd prefer some kind of blue-gray but hate the light blue I chose last time.

I would consider trying to match the color of the brick, or go a little lighter than the brick, then have a pretty colored front door.

Because you already have 2 colors, the beige brick and red-brick roof, would not add another color - so would use black or color match the brick.

Here is gray for you to consider

I think you should match the brick (or some component tone of it) in order to make your garage-conversion look less like a garage/garage door. Here are a couple mock-ups:

You should also consider the roof color. It looks red-ish brown on my screen. If that's accurate, cool colors can clash with the roof.

Any chance that roof colour is due for a change? The reddish colour is VERY bossy. Matching the brick colour (a close up of the brick would help) is the right idea although I would try both a little lighter AND a little darker. ANd as already been suggested, if the red is staying on the roof, steer clear of anything on the cool side of the colour spectrum including green-based beiges.

Besides all that, now that you're working on the exterior, you need to add some landscape elements to camouflage the fact that this used to be a conversion. Large rectangular planters would be a start.

This is what the house looked like before we painted. It was so boring. Kind of a mushroom beige.

Unfortunately, the roof probably won't be replaced for a few more years. Yes, it has reddish undertones.

The brick is a light beige.

What do you think about going with something totally different and tying it in with trim that matches the brick?

acm is correct that your choice of blue is not right with the roof. Roof and brick are warm colours and the cool blue "pops" in an unpleasant way in contrast. Even a more muted blue-gray would do the same thing.

I really like acm's final and darkest suggestion, the gray-brown. I would go quite a bit darker, but keep it muted and warm.

Your brick was called "blonde" and was an upgrade at the time from the regular red brick.

A big improvement would be to remove some of the driveway in front of the conversion and add shrubs. Trim your existing landscaping to show your windows. Draw attention to your front door, and away from your conversion section, by adding large house numbers near the door.

I think BM's Edgecomb Gray with white trim would look good. I agree an area of plantings in front to the converted garage would make it seem more attached.

partim and flopsycat1- Ironically, we did remove several feet of the driveway because it was draining into the house. We were informed that we could not plant anything there so it would drain properly. I'll probably put potted plants there and cross my fingers that they won't die (I am an herbicidal maniac). The driveway is usually full of cars so no one really sees it anyway. :)

Paint one color with front door in a tone of the roof.

I’m no expert on this, but my parents had a house at the bottom of a hill. Drainage toward the house was a problem until they had a French drain created in front of the house.. I don’t know anything about the cost, or whether or not that would work in your situation. Perhaps someone in houzz land could address that. Plantings in front of the converted garage would be a big improvement. Just a thought.....
