Because your tiles are grossly different in size there to be a bigger separation IMO

1. Turn the blue tile vertically

2. Confine the blue tile to a certain size and frame it

There are a variety of ways to frame the tile If there is any change in tile thickness from the blue to the white, you'll need more than a flat pencil trim to accommodate the change in thickness.

I, too, would turn the accent to be vertical rather than horizontal. What is the style of the hood? That would make a difference for me re: the pencil tile.

If there is a natural separation of the space with cupboards and the thickness of the tiles is the same, adding a thin strip on the sides (either choice) would work. If going with the brass though, you’ll need more brass added in the kitchen.

@Maureen Hood placement will be like the pic I just posted, except that the cabinets (white) won't go all the way down to the counter.

I would do the silver pencil with that hood, and position the tiles vertically.

@User That is very tempting, because we really love that tile, but this is a tiny galley kitchen in a small vacation home, so we want to keep things light and bright. Hence white cabinets and mostly white tile (but we do love that splash of color!).

Could you find the splash of color in a smaller scale tile?

I like Beverly’s suggestion of making a border of the same blue/green tile around said tile. Lake life 2020, that tile is stunning !! May I ask if you will please share the name/ manufacturer of it ?
