I think you could add a nice punch of personality with just paint. It's very common for the exterior and interior of window framed to be different, so I don't think you have to let what you have on the inside dictate what you do on the exterior (or vise versa). Let's take a look at some possible color options:

I actually like your house just the way it is and IMO those dark beams do nothing for appeal. What you really need it some colorful plantings instead of those hedge type plants . What is the wood thing on the side of the house?

I agree we need to come up with a landscaping plan and to get rid of the boring hedges. The wood thing on the side of the house is a beautiful dark brown wooden gate that goes across the driveway.

House is nice, landscaping is bad. I would remove the upright shrubs and plant a trailing perennial or shrub. Here is a crude sketch.

I agree with Patricia that the dark beams aren't necessary. I did think it looked a little incomplete to not darken the beams if you have dark trim, but that wouldn't be my preference anyway. I would play up the Mediterranean style in the landscaping and make it more free-form with lavender, sage, and maybe an Italian cypress if that works in your zone. Just adding more colour and texture there makes a good bit of difference.

I think I still prefer the added character of traditional Mediterranean blue trim. Of course, it really depends on your neighborhood and the style you're going for.

Ahhh gorgeousness! Wow, this community is awesome. Thank you for the photoshopping with landscaping ideas. Love the free form garden, I can see a little tile fountain being added to that area someday too once my kiddos are a little older and won’t fall in. I have much research to do.
