what kind of artwork would look good here?

This is my condo. Love the idea of a black framed print over the couch. Lots of greys and browns, so maybe something light?

I love to go to local galleries and check out local artisits and you should be able to that even now. I think an original piece of art you love will always work in your space no matter what.

Thank you! I agree with going local. All of my artwork is just that. Thank you for your suggestions!

Unrelated to your question but my first thought on seeing pic of dining area is that the mirror over end of buffet would look nice centered on blank wall to right & would reflect the very neat dining hanging light. I see edge of something else over buffet so maybe the mirror is part of a vignette or something but still that’s a lot of blank wall by table. Very pretty dining set & bufget.

Agree it's nice to find something that speaks to you -- worry about the right frame afterwards. Seems like you have the choice to do very muted colors to go with the rest of your living room, or you could do something with some oranges or natural wood hues to tie in the dining area.

the wood tones play so nicely with the art in the dining area Perhaps it would be nice to pull the wood tones from the dining area over in the frame of whatever art you choose for the living area

I had the mirror on the wall behind the dining table and decided to group it with the clock

you have another post w/the same question. why two posts?

I see. Thanks for posting the additional pic. I don’t really care for clock & mirror together - too busy with items on buffet top & too different to be so close - they look off balance with heavy mirror & open framework of clock. My vote is to move mirror to right & center on dining light - back where you had it. Not sure if it matters if hung vertical as is or would be better horizontal. If mirror was only thing over buffet I’d hang on the horizintal. Center clock over buffet - it looks like nice design balance to hanging light & will be a nice division on that long wall once you have large art hung over couch.

PS - haven’t seen a dup post on this as Beth notes. Hope I‘m commenting on the active post!

    here's the other post

Kelly, I posted a bunch of art suggestions w/photoshop on your other post. I don't know if you know you have people posting over on that one too. see link, above.

    This is in my hallway

I went with golden yellow accent pillows, a light framed print and switched out the lamps for white. They are shorter than my others. Comments?

Nice choice but I would lower it a bit. Back to the dining room. I'd rather see the mirror and art reversed and the clock eliminated. Are you timing how long guests are welcome at the dining table?

I think it might be too much on the wall.

colors look good, but it's too small (should be at least 3/4 width of the sofa) and hung too high.

I put this guide on your other post. (this is why we don't like having two posts going. It gets redundant) Did you happen to see the artwork I photoshopped for you on your other post?

for the other piece, pick one. the mirror or the other decor item

I really like the print there.

Thanks Beth H. I don’t see the other post. I tried twice posting the original. The first time it said there was a problem, so I tried again. Not aware of the other but I’ll check.

I’m trying to delete the other post. Not having much luck.

once someone comments on it, you can't delete it

you've already commented on it, so I assume you see the other examples of how to hang the art behind the sofa? so try and find something 3/4 the length of the sofa, and hang it about 4-6" above the back.

So no one likes my thought of moving mirror back to dining area where OP said it used to live & centering the arty wire clock over buffet? Is the art at head of dining table larger than new art over sofa? If yes, could the two be switched.?

Yes. Funny enough. That’s where the lock picture used to be, but I was trying to lighten up the area. I will switch them back, take a pic and await comments. Thanks everyone!

    it's brown? I thought you had grays/blacks.

the lone gold pillows kind of stand out on their own.

i like the leather and the textured pillows

I like the gold pillows for color on couch with the lock art above & I do think you need to add 2 more pillows to couch like Beth is showing you. Its In need of texture to break up solids of art, sofa & pillows. The chairs need a contrast solid color pillow each too.. I like the new art in dining area - it lightens that area & is just relaxed feeling. Now, what about that duo over the buffet? Still think that mirror needs to go back to dining area where hanging light will be reflected in it.

kelly, how tall are your table lamps?

added a few pillows and a textured side table, a warm leather ottoman/coffee table, and a tall plant for the space next to the window. maybe get a basket for the pillows/throw.

or maybe a leather/metal one like this

this way the warmer brown tones blend in w/the dining area
