I can’t find a gray towel that looks right with this. Please help!
IMO the gray doesn't go with the floor or walls
Maybe white towels...? I see your trim is white. What about sink/toilet/tub?
Bathroom towel color?
What colors of towels to go with Natural Linen & Ashley Gray?
what color towels should i get? White or charcoal grey?
Help with Towel Colours
White, or maybe something like this.
I would go with white or possibly silver.
I agree with jkc910. Sorry, but IMO the “taupe-y” color of the shower curtain and the accents in the bath mat don’t complement the room...at all. If you want gray (and I think it could work/contrast well) then go with a SILVER-Y gray, like the tone in your tile. You’re almost there... ;)
The floor has gray in it.
Not understanding how that doesn’t all go together......
Maybe the lighting?
I think the comment was "I don't think THAT gray goes with your floors or wall colour", in which case, I agree. Your shower curtain looks almost smokey plum, it has so much red in its undertone. There is indeed gray in your tile but it is not the dominant colour. If that is the colour you want to draw out of the tile, you will need a steelier gray. The gray vein in the tile shown looks more like steel wool, which is actually a colour name by Benjamin Moore 2121-20.
We should also be looking at the vanity to see what colour/style it is. If it's white, you might have a shot at white towels, but otherwise, you run the risk of making your earthy toned tiles look dirty. Without seeing it, and looking at your bath mat, I'd say cream if you're going light. Darker would create more drama though.
Houzz by computer isn't the same as being there!
I plan to change out the vanity top with something darker.
a bit muted
For a little fun, I see canvas art [even over toilet or towel bar as I have] -- urban colors of concrete and tan stone buildings. Or lakeside...
My whole house has these colors. Maybe a steel gray isn’t right. Maybe focus on another color in the tile?
Why darker vanity? The medium muted tones seem like the natural stream, and darker could be a challenge even more than towels, just m.o. But possibly more contemporary is like your home?
Oh Sarah.. could you mean a toasty brown, neutral from the floor? that I see in my head..
Hang the shower curtain so it doesn’t drag on the floor. It may just need to be shortened and hemmed.
Art could have combo of a few, like paint color, floor, curtain, wood....?
Less of a plum-ish undertone (for both shower curtain and bath mat), more silver undertone. Your grout is perfect! But I don’t think you should go that dark. Maybe match the grout color, then go a shade or two lighter.
the prob is you're using a gray w/purple/lavender undertones. Your tile/vanity are all warm, orange/yellow/beige tones
you need a gray that is brown or black or yellow undertone.
See? much better. and get some art or something for the walls! maybe some glass shelves over the toilet. a few faux succulents.
or, do a curtain w/brown AND gray in it. Like this one (overstock, Madison Park)
BM Kendall Charcoal or Chelsea Gray is a gray that leans yellow:
So, when looking for towels or shower curtain, make sure they're in this color range. no blue/grays, and no lavender grays.
paint your walls a nice white, and do that one wall in another darker color. like the chelsea gray or kendall charcoal. then hang a picture on that wall. hang some shelves over the toilet. get some fluffy towels.
Agree that shower curtain is giving off a purple tone in your lighting I'd pull a greige from your floor tiles and use that for the bath mat. Then go white for shower curtain (or one that coordinates with the bath mat?). White towels and bring in color with art
Thank ya’ll so much!
Terms they use are interesting - here's a color called Roosevelt Taupe [hm?]
Or pewter - it'd look like after washings idk.
You could try a color that's fairly muted, making it more likely to blend.
jck might've posted a "stone" neutral and penney's has that... but If your house has warm red, or clay / rust...experiment with items from your wardrobe.
I find your curtain as well as the darker suggestions are not as complimentary as cream or white would be. Think about the whole bathroom and how to create a coordinated, light feeling. Painting walls a creamy white would also be nice. The towel rack is too short and instead I’d add art on that wall and place Turkish towels (cute on hooks) across from sink. I’d just place your small mat over tub when not in use and add a runner by sink.
