I have one of these talavera sinks in my main bath and placed it in a travertine tile counter top. The faucet needs to be changed if you keep the sink to either a bronze or in my case a chrome kohler that required a separate hole for the handles and spout which extends over the bowl. Really cute also with a faucet set that is mounted from the back splash wall. Do not let the naysayers sway you if you like it. Mine is more primary colors, but this can be worked around as well. I used the green and vivid yellow to set my sink off as well as a talavera back splash surround. This is a fairly large bathroom with a lot of ornate tile work around the walls and tub, not for the faint of heart.

I've found from the past bowl vessel sinks especially in glass to be a GIANT pain. We had a large glass bowl vessel sink for some time in a half bath in our downstairs and it was very, very hard to keep it looking nice and get it clean around the base and looking nice. A metal or other might not be as bad if you don't have three teen boys using it often :( Overall, I find many today nice to look at, but not very functional IMO. The sink shown above is much easier to manage with cleaning vs solely based on appearance and not function. Really depends on the space and how large it is. A photo of the space if you have a cabinet in place and the lighting you mentioned would be of help. If you love a vessel choose a solid color, metal or porcelain. A true bowl is very hard to keep clean at the base such as the second above or what I had below.... I had a vessel just as as below as well as the faucet mounted to the wall and cleaning it was horrible and around the tiny base as well. Sorry, I got a bit passionate about this!! My 87 year old mother at the time said, "do not do that" gave me all the reasons and she was right god bless her!
