Does anyone have Ijen Blue Quartzite in their home?

Thinking about this for my Island top only. It's Ijen Blue Quartzite. Does anyone have this in their kitchen and would you be willing to share photos?

What are the other elements in the kitchen and please do not do a different colored cabinet for the island if this is your counter ther let it be the star. I love that slab .

@Patricia Colwell Consulting I've been taking your advice! I am only doing one color cabinet and I haven't actually selected the color because I want this to be the showpiece! It's only going on the island. No waterfall.. just a Mitered edge. I honestly do not like white cabinets so I am in the process of finding the right color to go with this countertop. Depending on the actual slab we get it might work with my first choice color (which is a blue gray) but I won't know that until I see the slab we will be getting up close and personal. I honestly want the island cabinet to fade away a little so the countertop is your main focus.

    Now that's a gorgeous slab!

I have a quartzite that is busier than this beauty and you absolutely can do a different colored island. You just can't mix a different colored island and then do two different counter materials too. If you're doing a different perimeter counter, then Patricia is 100% correct.

We don't have it - yet - but we just selected a slab of it for our kitchen remodel. Our slab isn't quite as 'active' as yours but we're doing full countertops on both sides of the kitchen so it'll be fine. It's a gorgeous piece and that slab of yours is magnificent. I hope you went with it for your island, I'm sure it'll be amazing!

@Bill Parrish Good luck with your countertops! We actually decided to go with a different quartzite. They no longer had the lot we originally saw and they had a beautiful piece of Ocean Blue that I loved even more. We are only doing it on the island because the island is so big it will be a showpiece!

This is what we did choose:

Nice! I’ll see if I can find some pics from our last kitchen, we did contrasting island cabinets with a showpiece piece of stone...

if this link works, it’s the July 21st 2015 listing

@Argo Murpar That's beautiful. What was on the perimeter do you recall?

I’m sorry, no, that was almost 10 years ago...I’m lucky if I can remember what I had for breakfast yesterday...

I have just installed iJen Blue quartzit,e in the kitchen of a house we are renovating however i installed it around the perimeter as well. Argo your home you sold is stunning, after seeing the slabs installed it’s amazing depending on light source how radically different each fabricated section is from light to deep greys and medium to navy blue. The light areas actually cast a greenish hue more than creamy as viewed in the slabs. I’m going for a blue and white kitchen. My idea was medium to deep blue on the large center island cabinets with a Swiss coffee white on perimeter cabinets. IJen Blue is a challenge matching paint colors, the slab colors vary so much. it would be interesting to know what others have done. Interesting Patricia Caldwell’s advice; how about on a full kitchen install?

What are you thinking for backsplash? I’m using blue lava. Charcoal island and not sure about perimeter cabinets. Suggestions?

There is another thread I started for Ijen Blue. I fell in love with the stone but, sadly, it didn't work with my kitchen. It is a gorgeous stone.

Hi, so anyone find a perfect blue paint to match the ijen blue?

I just used Ijen Blue for my countertop with cream colored cabinets and a blue island. It's awesome!

@HU-341556434, I would love to see photos....even if it'll make me weep with envy (I really really really wanted blue quartzite and ended up with white quartz, LOL/cry).

@lisa, could you share pics of your kitchen? I am in love with ijen blue as well as ocean blue and would love to see some pictures of kitchens using those.

@material_creativity our cabinets are going in this week. If you shoot me your email I would be happy to send you a picture when it's finished. I adore my Ocean Blue quartzite so I am getting very excited!

Thank you for your response, I sent you a message with my email.

Here's our remodedled kitchen with Ijen Blue Quartzite Countertops so far. We still have to add a backsplash and pendant lights over the peninsula. Please excuse the mess and let me know if you want any more specific photos. Once we saw the Ijen Blue, we knew that was the only countertop that we wanted. Enjoy!

Ijen blue is beautiful... looks great!! We originally chose that but then they got a new lot which wasn't as impressive and we went with Ocean blue. I'm so excited to see it on my counters!

My Ijen blue was finally installed! Excuse the mess, as we are still waiting for cabinet doors and facings. We had to tent off the cabinets as sink was cut in place to avoid cracking the stone (so, lots of dust).

I have to say, photos absolutely do not do this stone justice. It looks much bluer in person. My husband and I keep stopping and just staring at it and are glad we splurged to make it our island. Our perimeter is a Cambria Torquay quartz.

You can see a sample of our future subway backsplash on the right, and the new flooring we plan to get below it. None of the walls or trim are painted the new color yet.

We had enough left over to use on top of our media cabinet (the family room and kitchen are open floor plan and are completely open to each other).

That is a gorgeous hunk of rock!

That is beautiful. I like the backsplash tile with it too.

@Kelly Kay You will have a beautiful kitchen when completed! I have a similiar layout with an adjoning family room. Is your backsplash tile white or cream colored? I’m not sure what color backsplash I should install. I have decided to paint the entire space including the family room white.

@lynn The backsplash is a warm off white to almost taupe. In some lights done of the tile can look cream, but if you put it next to cream, it is obvious it is white. It was difficult to find a tile the color I needed, as creams are too brown, and most whites were too cool for what I needed with my tile floors (because my old floor tile I couldn't afford to change is that color and it looked dingy with bright whites).

It is slightly warmer than white Chloe tile.

My backsplash will only be against my perimeter quartz which has those colors (again due to my floor tile, which of course, I learned mid-install needs replacing but have to stick to design now). It does look nice by the ijen blue, as I think the biggest key is keeping the backsplash simple and Jerry the ijen be the star.

The backsplash is supposed to get installed tomorrow so I'll share what it looks like. Hopefully as good as I think! 😁
