I want to do two-tone countertops, but need help choosing the black,

I’m just starting my kitchen renovation... we are doing white shaker cupboards with a blue island. I’m planning on doing Calacatta Classique (from MSI) on the Island, but want to do a black counter on the perimeter & am trying to decide between Midnight Majesty Quartz or Black Pearl Granite.

The Midnight Majesty Quartz has a “striking black background with contrasting flecks in a polished finish” while the Black Pearl Granite is “a predominately black granite of a semi-solid color tone with speckles of blacks, golds, silvers, browns, greens and shades of gray.”

Anyone have experience with either of these countertops? Any options on which options would look bettter with Calacatta Classique? Or want to pick which blue I should paint my island?!

IMO you either do all the same color cabinets and a different island counter or 2 different colored cabinets and all one counter to do both is too busy and I never like real stone and fake stone mixed .

Out of the choices you listed, I would incorporate granite in the mix so you have a surface that can handle higher heat....if this kitchen gets used...or is it just for what looks better? And I agree, 2 cabinet colors and 2 countertop colors (highly contrasting) might make the kitchen busy, unless it's huge?

@Patricia Colwell Consulting and @lucky998877 are right. You need to have one cabinet color to have two counters, or one counter to have two cabinets.

Personally, I would rather see two cabinets with one counter, if you want that variety.

If you aren't bound to the blue island, I'd do it in a stunning black with the counter you've selected.

I would do solid surface gray on the parameters, your Calcutta on the island and I like the idea of a black island.

If you're going to go with a blue island I'd suggedt looking at "hale navy". i agree with the others who advised against two cabinet colors AND two counter colors :)
