White cabinets, Stainless appliances, Light counters, Dark stools (w/green cushions) and green walls (I have attached our current kitchen picture as well, the concrete part is where the cabinets will be) Yes I will definatly need some area rugs. Im not entirely sure about the olive walls we did yet either...they are growing on me though...and Im hoping I can pull it all together and make them work. I like the green Island idea! I cant seem to delete these small photos now...I put together an ideabook on my houzz called Croatia2..not sure if anyone can access this or not and let me know what you think of my ideas? I believe this style of home is called a four square. There are a few classic color combinations. The combination of grey/blue, cream and charcoal might work for this house. I am going to assume that the columns were shingled when you purchased the home? Originally these columns were probably wood with framed details and the porch was also wood ... contrasting the top of the house from the bottom. The paint then brought out the trim detail. Assuming you are not going to take off the shingles, you need some thing to take attention away from the large amount of siding. I would suggest you build a shelf above the bottom deck opening and place an Earthbox planter in front of each side of the deck. A similar planter box may work in the built-in planter above the entry. The burst of flower color - top center and left and right will grab all the attention. These can be made to self water. Use the grey/blue for the siding. Use the cream to make something standout, like the window or door trim. And use the charcoal to put something into the shadow - like the build-in flower box or openings below the deck. The front door could be red and I would suggest an exterior runner carpet up the center of the steps of the same color.

I agree w/ jabbott. You already have a gorgeous, white, flat tile roof, go for something tropical, that you'll only see on these low latitudes. A white house w/ black shutters could be anywhere.

I think you are done. It looks good. Unless you need new windows anyway, I can't imagine changing them. I really like the look of dark windows, but I think it might be too much in this case. Not sure why you would consider shutters after going to the troubled and expense of making the house more modern. I agree with the other comment - if you are going to do anything, do landscaping. The existing landscaping is nice, maybe just a few professionally designed changes to give it a little more wow.
