Help! Unable to make custom medicine cabinet work with custom frames

Hello all,
We had a cabinet maker build in custom medicine cabinets in to our master bath wall (asymmetry due to structural posts that could not be modified). We also bought a custom frame that we love, but are unable to figure out how to attach it to the base. The frame has a space where a mirror could be placed and then wood behind it. We thought that the hinges could be placed on this, but the cabinet maker is not used to doing complicated work, and was saying that he would have to cut notches into the frame and it might crack the mirror. Piano hinges were also suggested but we didn’t think that the wood in the frame would be strong enough. It would be preferred to place the hinges on the wood door backing the frame. The entire frame is 1 1/4 inch thick. We are open to modifying frame (as last resort by cutting it thinner) or base that is attached on the tiled wall.

Any suggestions appreciated!
