Help with design and furniture arrangement in new house!
Comments (22)Our style is definitely casual/coastal - I love grey (obviously), aquas, blues, sand, white....I always think of sea glass. Questions with the paint - if we would paint the entire living space and extend it to the kitchen, would we need to extend it down the very short hallway to the dining room and entrance way - and do the entire first floor? with furniture placement - would I want to place anything chair/sofa/poufs separating the living room to the kitchen or would I want to keep that open. We will have a little breakfast table in front of our island. Karemore55 - you hit the nail on the head with the type of furniture and style we were going for - I love slip covered sofas for the comfy casual look...and because we have 3 cats!! I love the painting from West Elm! Thank you for your suggestions leelee - thank you for the advice for not matching! That was my first instinct - to buy a matching sofa and love seat combo. However I have been steered away from that idea :) groveraxle - I love the color of those chairs! You are right - I wouldn't want to leave that wall blank for now (where the fireplace would go) I can always transition art to above it or to another wall room afterwards- Thank you Thos. Baker - Thank you for your kind words! I am really digging that light in the 1st picture!...See MoreWhat to do with this 1960s buffet!

Comments (42)So many great ideas here!! I love love love your space! I love the details, your colour choice, the light and the focal stone. I agree, the sectional works better at the smaller size but if you need it larger, then the other way works as well. Functionality first! Decide on the size that you want to keep the sofa at first before you invest in a piece (ie: accent table / ottoman) for the middle so you can determine the size you need. I love that your style is transitional because it will work so well with what is already going on. I would not do drapes unless you commit to long rods so that when pushed back, the entire window and trim is visible. You need a large carpet (really big) to ground your room. You can opt for a colourful print or go with a neutral white or tan. I think your colour pallet should springboard from the fireplace stone. The darkest grey has a distinct teal undertone, so run with it! I love the idea of incorporating soft smokey teals, tan, grey and even the odd darker tone for contrast. I would love to see some charcoal interjected in the artwork or accents around the room, but you could also opt for a really deep navy as your anchor. I think continuing the use of texture could work well with the odd rattan vase but I would still add some sparkle with a mirror that reflects light and/or your beautiful fireplace. HTH! Good luck!...See MoreNeed new table lamps in living room
Comments (98)How wide is the console table? I forget. The Arhaus lamps are great, but I worry just a bit about their width. 16" is pretty large. I think that is the size of the shade, so that would be the biggest point. They are 34" high, so their height is good. I don't think I would do two of those because with the stairway there (I think) it might be good to have the one lamp on the left and then mirror or art and a few accessories to the right....See Morebbstx
