So many gorgeous roses everyone! Some great photography too! There have been so many I’m in awe of! Flowersaremusic, you definitely need to share your roses with us more often, I’m so impressed with all of your beauties! Kristine you have so many lovely ones too, your Gruss an Aachen is gorgeous! Ken and Seil, your blooms look exhibition perfect! Rose Lai, your roses are lovely, PAOK is amazing! I’m wondering what zone you are in to have so many beautiful blooms! Thank you all for sharing!

Oursteelers, I just put up more Flamingo Dancer pictures on the thread about West Coast breeders. FD has not fragrance but is otherwise perfect.

All beautiful and I don't think I'd ever get tired of looking at them!

Seil; your Jubilee Celebration is to die for!

Rose Lai, I always enjoy seeing your roses and garden, your QoE looks like it did much better than mine. Do you find the blooms to be rather flat when they open?

Joey, I enjoy seeing the variety of roses you grow, I grew up in NWSD and experienced many zone 4 winters.

My first bloom to open of 2020 was ‘Princess Anne 3/29.

‘Scentuous, 1st season, hoping season 2+ are better.

    ‘Moonlight in Paris

    ’Bliss Parfuma

    ‘Dee-Lish

    ‘Olivia Austin Rose

    ‘Jubilee Celebration

    ‘Pretty Lady Rose

Nick, thank you. Queen of elegance is not the fastest growing among the 15+ variety of roses I planted last year, so give it some time. It may improve for you this year. The blooms are quite interesting, and yes they can become quite flat after opening for a couple of days. I like the occasional coffee color mixed with pink. You got some beautiful pink roses. I particularly like Jubilee Celebration. I should look more closely at Moonlight in Paris after seeing yours and others.

Merlena, I am in zone 9b, sunset zone 14 San Francisco Bay. I thought my zone got displayed on Gardenweb but I guess it didn't.

Rose Lai, thank you! There seems to be some great rosarians in that area, including you.

    Nick, your pinks are gorgeous!

@rosecanadian thanks! Kordes Perfecta is new to me, it arrived late spring from Roses Unlimited. Unfortunately It got overrun by an anchusa azurea for part of the year, but now that I freed it it is trying to bloom even in December. I should have more info in the coming spring to share!

Rose Lai, you can add your Zone to your name. :-) I think that works for most people.

I realize every spring how MANY of my roses are pink, I'll see what I can find.
But I do know New Zealand was one of my last blooming in November 2020.

Rose Lai, your beautiful photos make my day. I'm curious why your Young Lycidas' stems are so thick. Mine is 2yr old, but most of the stems are so thin that I don't even know how to prune them. Could you give me some tips about pruning and fertilizers to help him grow bigger? Thanks in advance.

    Feiy

Hi Feiy, my Young Lycida is in between 2 standard rose trees. As the trees next to it get wider, part of Young Lycida gets covered in some shape. I think it responds by growing a few strong, sturdy canes so it can stand and reach higher to the sun. Mine is about 6 feet tall - it almost wants to compete in height with its neighbor rose trees!

The young Lycida is well known to have floppy canes and blooms that droop or look down, so I am sure there is nothing more is needed with your fertilization or pruning. Even my photos above were taken from 2 feet below, in a lower part of the garden looking up. Some people plant the Young Lycida in an elevated position for this reason - so that you can see the blooms from below.

Oh, these are so beautiful. I need to add Moonlight in Paris to my garden! I swoon every time I see it. Dee Lish is another I've had my eye on.

Thanks, Kathy...Kordes Perfecta sounds like a trouper to keep going after that! LOL

Thanks, Rose Lai. Now I get less anxiety about that. This is my YL blooming last spring. Not a good quality photo, but I love it!

I've tried posting here several different times on different days and something always goes wrong. Im guessing Houzz didn't like all my photos. Im going to try again and split them up. Being new to roses last summer I just had one pink: Boscobel. It was fun to see how the color changed with the weather and season.

I'll have other pink varieties next spring! I'm looking forward to seeing what my new roses do!

librarian, for whatever reason I can only post three and under at a time so maybe it’s like that for you too🤷🏻‍♀️

Oursteelers I tried 3 and it didn't like it! Maybe my files were too large.

I always do one at a time and go back and edit my post and add another, etc.

My favorite colors of your Boscobel are shown in your July and August shots! Beautiful!!!

librarian, Boscobel is such a gorgeous rose, I’ve been noticing it a lot recently.

ZAIDE is one that is more difficult for me to classify, it’s supposed to be pink though.

To me this earlier picture when my ZAIDE was new looks more pink

I love this rose no matter what the color.

Iibrarian, i love the September Boscobel the best but it is beautiful in its many color variations

I can only do 3 pictures at a time or the whole post dissapears and sometimes for no reason it dissapears anyway.

It was with a really sad heart that I removed Young Lycidis. The blooms were my favorite but the twisted mess of canes finally got to me.

Oh kristine ! I’m glad ( well you know what I mean ) to see yours does that too! Why does it do that ! I thought it was my plant .. anyway james Austin is just about identical in color and form and doesn’t flop at all .

I'm bravely trying with YL this year. I'm planning to plant it near a once bloomer and maybe it can drape nicely on the OGR? Maybe? I'm a sucker for fragrance and I've heard that the fragrance and vase life are great. Maybe I'll regret it....who knows. It will be one is my garden experiments.

Kristine September Boscobel is my favorite, too! It was especially sweet after the fires were contained and smoke cleared this year. Brought me hope.

It drives me crazy when I've typed something up, add photos, and houzz kills the post after I hit submit. I've walked away from so many because of that. I've started posting w/out pictures and then "Edit" the post to add them. I assume the size of the pictures cause it to crash.

I know exactly what you mean, Nick! It’s very frustrating!

Librarian, I put my YL in a pot in a location it can drape and flop to its heart’s content. Mine is young so there aren’t a lot of canes to tangle so that might be a future problem

Still really want pink peace everytime that I see yours Merlena

    What a color !

I cried over Young Lycidis because the blooms were so gorgeous and smelled so wonderful but it took over and I just couldn't keep up with it.

Good luck to those growing it. The blooms rrally are special

But removing it gave me room for Azaleas Forever Rose and Marc Chigall
