Low growing color in front of the hedge and drought tolerant mixed plantings between the hedge and house. Widen the front path with re-cycled broken concrete and wide spacing to hold a low ground cover....See Moreneed lots of ideas for my kitchen and floors
Comments (40)I guess the cool tile is inviting if SF. The wood grained tile is usually porcelain and any good tile shop will at least have a sample or two for you to look at. Susan brings up a good point about and busy patterns. I like the wood tile with q toothpick (1/16" or less) joint and the color as close a match to make it disappear. Also, a lot of the tiles come in at least two different widths. This helps randomize the look to be more like a wood floor. I went looking through my photos to see if I can find one that shows what I mean but I could not find one, ill keep looking though. If you cant find a wood you love (yes, I said LOVE), a safe choice would be a large square or rectangle tile set running bond (brick stack) or diagonal (my favorite). If you do choose a wood style tile, make sure you find an installer who has experience with this type of tile since the install can make or break the entire design....See MoreYour Best Tip for Keeping your Holiday Sanity...
Comments (68)Used to go nuts getting everything done, house decorated inside and out. Cooked like a crazy woman. Always had one more gift to buy. Sent cards to everyone I knew. What has changed - everything. I don't send cards anymore. Kids and grandkids get one reasonable gift of their choice. Each family will bring an appetizer. This year the live tree has lights, beaded garland and one very special ornament that my husband and I always placed on the tree together, sadly, he's unable to remember the ornament, but the kids and I remember its story. We'll get together, hug, laugh, tell stories of Christmases past, take pictures, eat, open gifts, count our blessings, and certainly remind the younger generation the meaning of Christmas. I'll relax before our gathering by listening to Christmas music by Arron Neville and Michael Buble' and maybe have a glass of bubbly. It will be a Merry Christmas!...See MorePls share your experiences with dark-honed granites.
Comments (20)I need to get the husband to look at some of these responses and to do a few searches of his own so he knows what we could be in for with absolute black. Of course, he is the more "mellow" of the two of us (notice I didn't say messy!) and rarely feels the need to wipe down a counter or an appliance -- all of which are dirty and streaky constant;y -- so he may not heed anyone's advice. Too many decisions to make and too many choices!!...See Morededtired
