1970's California Ranch Exterior Design Help

Hi Houzzperts!

We've got ourselves a bit of a fixer upper here! We bought a 1970's ranch. We're in the midst of a remodel and addition to the home. We want to hear what you think about making the exterior really stylish, stunning and classic?

Here are a few (not great, sorry!) photos of the new Hardy Plank Siding and windows.

We've selected this Simpson door and single sidelight in order to attempt to give a stylish welcoming vibe:

There will be a dutch door on the side entrance.

We're leaning toward a rich, saturated Blue, Orange or Green front door. We've been looking at:

Benjamin Moore: Hidden Sapphire CSP-690

Tomato Tango CSP-1145

Hidden Sapphire CSP-690

For the exterior color, we're leaning toward something lighter due to the darker, shorter stature of the house and so as to not call attention to the windows not being very architecturally interesting:

Benjamin Moore: Collingwood OC-28 with Dove Wing OC-18 Trim

Bullet White OC-9 with White Dove OC-17 Trim

If we were to go darker, thinking Whale Gray 2134-40 with Distant Gray Trim OC-68

We've also considered shutters. i'm open if they can be done well...but my husband less so....

Ok, Houzers! How do we make this stunning?! Obviously.... all fo the landscaping needs to be designed too down the road. And we're thinking of a brick walkway and tree lined around the corner lot.

and a few photos of the front walkway area. Look forward to hearing what you would do. thanks!
