Hi all,
I’m currently looking for rug size advice on a medium sized living running 14ft wide and 18 ft long( including a 18’ hearth in front of fire place)

I’ve decided that floating the 7.5ft sofa in the middle of the room will:
-give the best use of space
-will provide good conversation space

• will be convent to view tv which will go in left built-in shelves
• will allow walkway on both sides of room
  -will still allow for reading nook.

That being said, I am trying to follow the rules of area rugs and allow 2ft of wall on each side, which would bring to 10 x 14 rug.
I’ve attached the 10x 14 printed area rug that I love below and found it at a great price.
But I’m worried that the size combined with print might overwhelm the room. My other concern is that I currently have about 3ft of space on each side of room which feels very comfortable for me ( I want to avoid bumping into furniture). The 10x 14 rug will cut into each side by 1ft.
Will that create an awkward pathway around the couch?
I’ve also attached a solid rug that is very nice but the size is limited to 9x 12.
