Clueless...Need Help setting up our Living Room!!
Comments (32)Sierra...I have a great deal of respect for trained, professional designers. But, knowing that those mirrors are a pair of louis philippe does not make a good designer. I love to paint, but recognizing a Renior from a Monet does not make me a great painter. This forum is both "opinions" and "professional opinions". Having said that...if I wanted my home to look like a beautiful, designer, magazine cover shoot, I would hire a professional designer, such as yourself. :) I do think that advice given from unprofessionsals on Houzz are taken as such, and professional advice is received with more respect and consideration....See MoreI need layout help for our long living room and outdated wood wall.
Comments (16)Mary, your TV looks like a old CRT! So vintage ;) . It seems to me that that long wall is crying out to be a media wall with a new flat screen! I love the room and its a great size. I would not be sectioning it off at all! You need space to relax and enjoy your family! If anything, you 'could' put double doors (maybe glass) between the tiled room and the large carpeted room but its not needed. Concerning 'the wall', depending on your budget either just paint it & get some freestanding modern furniture or some built in- however careful how big you build the cavity where your TV is meant to go because you don't want to limit yourself too much with TV size. Good luck :)...See MorePlease help me change up my living room - need a change!
Comments (110)You have been busy and coming along nicely. I personally would like you to switch the two pieces of art and put the blue one the way you had suggested, vertically and next to the glass block. It is too large for that area. See, you DO know what you are doing! No need to have two different color curtain panels on one window. Stick with blue and put the grey panels in the office area. The blue compliments the rug and pulls it together with the blue throw. The round tables make the space modern and pulls in the tv wall. Good job. Sorry, I am still not feeling the office area. Are you going to install the IKEA sliding panels? My guess is that you want to have the tv on while working at your computer. Me too. The whole office area is distracting and takes away from your beautiful living area. Please try the bookcase where the arrow is and up to the corner. Put the desk facing the living room and facing the sofa and have one of the sliding panels separating the sofa from the desk. This way you will be able to see the tv and not see the desk top. Also your cart and printer can be next to the desk and in that corner behind the wall. Leave the little folding table where it is under the window. Move all the art down the wall to the left. This will visually clean everything up, and play up the luxury of space, instead of the everyday work stuff. You will like it better. Are you buying the mirror/shelf/hooks item from IKEA for next to the door?...See MoreLarge Living Room Wall Makeover! Change your art, Hide that tv!
Comments (5)Looks a lot better! You might also want to add something to the sides of the cabinet, maybe a plant or a basket, and find a taller floor lamp. Your ceilings are nice and high so a taller piece would help fill the space a bit more. Nice job!...See Moreposhky
