To paint or not to paint...
Comments (97)I am glad you decieded not to paint those beautiful cabinets! I know you need new counters and backsplash however have you considered changing the floor to match the black appliances, counter and backsplash? Between new hardware, lighting and a new floor I think your kitchen could be gorgous! Not to be rude but...the floor doesn't match the rest of the kitchen, it distracks from the rest of the kitchen...so a new flooring would make a big differance!!! That's where you should consider putting your money first I think, you said you wanted to upgrade to stainless steel so perhaps a slate looking flooring? That way if you do get new appliances it would still look fabulous! I think you might even like the look of the kitchen if you change the flooring along with the lighting and hardware. Just wondering...and a pop of color would brighten the space up to, just a few pops as in a valance, scatter rug and towels?...See MoreFireplace Dilemma - to paint or not to paint
Comments (107)I believe the fireplace would look good either way. However, I believe you need to bring everything in the room into a better scale by installing fairly wide, white-painted crown molding around the ceiling/wall junctures. The crown molding should be extended to every room, of course, to make the style consistent There is a sort of white molding around the top of the fireplace, and this could stand to be the same style and width I suggested for crown molding....See MoreTo paint or not to paint
Comments (48)I am a huge fan of rustic and old woodwork - as well as of all white rooms. This is a tough decision as returning it to the condition as shown would be a painstaking endeavour. IF you have other natural wood present in the room ( doors, windows, beams ) I think i would leave it as is; if this is the ONLY piece that is natural wood I'd paint it white....See More90's oak cabinets, to paint or not to paint
Comments (5)Leave the cabinets and kitchen as it is. The cabinets are very nice and attractive, and not nearly as out of style as you think they are. I've spend the last 3 days looking at homes on Zillow.com in anticipation of my husband retiring, and I can tell you based on that that if I looked at your current kitchen, I'd consider buying your house. You can't believe some of the strange kitchens out there, and yours isn't one of them!! Do those of us that want to buy a new home a favor and leave your cabinets as they are!...See MoreCarrie Webb
