Almost had a near fatal with the Covid virus on my Aunt. It's been hectic lately but I am so happy to say she pulled through. Talk about being preoccupied. Now that I am back thanks for al the beautiful pics everyone. Keep them coming.

Atheen, I love it. What a nice pic. Look at that red dot. I think he likes you. Looks like he is staring right at you unless he just wants in. Nice.

Yeah, I was really happy for him. Wish they'd kept him in NE, but, hey, it's their loss (also, so much for all the "it's ALL Belichick" haters). Talk about a performance, last night. The Chiefs were just trying to catch up to him the entire game. Their QB was obviously rattled, but he's young. He'll be better next year, and that'll give them fuel to come back stronger.
    .
Still, we were really pulling for Brady, so we were really happy he won. I went all out on the spread, and have been baking and cooking for it since last Wednesday, so I'm kind of glad it went well and didn't spoil the husband's fun. 😅

    Amy, much obliged))))

I hope they do. It's been a rough few months but are we not lucky to have our plants to give us something other to think about? Kind of therapeutic on most days. I appreciate your kind comments. Hope you are doing ok and enjoying that greenhouse of yours. Don't be afraid to give us an updated picture of it. I love to see what everyone is growing in there's.

I lost power to it the other night and of course my remote temp stick went offline not letting me know it went down to 28 in there. Most of my greenhouse plants got burned and many leaves falling off. Hopefully they will recover but the leaves on many look just horrible. So glad the roots did not burn.

Congrats on those fruiting trees!! I can't believe they are doing that for you. Great job my friend That is truly a feat of it's own)

Matt, that's wonderful. It tells me the sun is getting at a higher angle finally. Nice pics. Are they in a greenhouse to help them along early?

NIck, there's hope for spring). Hard to believe that some are already getting it and I have a long 2 more months to go. Thanks for the smile.

I like this thread Mike! it's not specifically one topic :) Yes they are in the greenhouse. there is fruit on these trees before the leaves outside even show up LOL. I Also found a hyacinth blooming! Happy Spring to some right!

    Beautiful pictures everyone!

Athen, lol, you make me hungry everytime I look at your pictures. So delicious!

Matt and Nick! oh no you guys as such enabler! The nectarine trees are so beautiful.

Matt, is there any advantages to keep the nectarine in the greenhouse? Will they survive here outdoor?

Great thread — enjoying all the photos and especially anything that looks like spring! I’m reminded of my short-lived Tillandsia, and some attempts at bonsai. I’m also jealous of people who can grow citrus outdoors! :)

Deep snow and very cold here, so only indoor gardening now. What’s different here is that I have my first-ever chimera sport from one of my AVs! I’m trying propagation from inflorescence now:

And my 2nd phal is finally reblooming for me!

Patti, love the viola pic, it's so endearing.
Kate, I just saw your daisies (one of my favorite flower) and kumquats (yum).
Mike, is there ANYTHING you can't grow, omg.
Matt, Hi ! That blooming nectarine is gorgeous.
Did I see Steve, lurking around?

Amy, thank you! I must be doing something right, lol.
    .
Mike, my stalker is back. He's obsessed with watching us. Sometimes, he comes on the rail in front of my window and stares at ys. But the moment I reach for my phone to take a picture when he's that close, he's gone!
    .
In other news, I've given a shot of FP to my thyme, and it's exploding ever since.
    .
    Happy weekend, y'all. God bless.

Amy, hello!! How are your plants doing in that awesome greenhouse today ? Any news yet? Flowers ? Fruit ? Anything catch your eye recently? make you proud of yourself ? So happy to see you as always ))

Atheen, yes. I can’t grow a carnivorous plant for all the money in the world. Lol. I stuck the only two I have on a gold porch , something I have not tried yet after trying year after year. Lol. Let’s see what happens. Maybe they need dormancy. Not looking so good. Ha

So there. Not everything is so green and alive. Can’t believe it did that after Foliage Pro. Look at mines. Maybe they need a shot. Even with herbs I struggle in a nice sunny window under lights !! These are my herbs Lemon thyme, lavender , and rosemary Smell great though Ever try fragrant geraniums ? This one was 2 inches tall last June now 3 feet tall two feet wide smells like lemons and citrus

Atheen I see the light. I can see the edge of very green citrus leaves. Nice.

Party, thanks. It’s times like this that makes us smile. I love threads like this too. Beautiful work on the violet. I like them. Unique flowers. Always wanted a yellow flowering Phal. Nice looking.

Matt, I agree. Keto posting more pics. Love seeing what you are growing there and what you do. Can’t believe that nectarine.

Mike, your photos are making me want more phals and other orchids! Since you're only a state over, what would be the best orchid mail-order places for me in NY? (when the weather is appropriate)

    Thanks guys!

    @Amy (montreal, canada)

They are hardy to zone (probably 4) . I just never got around to planting them. Now I have run out of room unless I move to the front yard LOL. This is the second year I brought them in at the beginning of Jan. The only perks are the blooms in winter and I can harvest fruit in late April early May then they get kicked back outside. I don't pollinate anything and they produce which I find amazing.

Matt, amazing. So you are saying that you grow that tree in a pot? It never occurred to me to do the same. Think I will try that. I love those fruits! As long as the squirrels stay away, right? They use to steal my fruit before they ever ripened.

Party. you should. They are so easy to grow and I will be willing to help you at any time for the best care)))) I love mine, especially the fragrance of chocolate when I walk into my room))

I get most of mine from Andy's orchids Or Peter on Facebook. Also a few from Seattle Orchids. Some from J& L in Connecticut extremely good buys. Although many at the orchids shows before this stupid virus. I miss the shows. I use to be the first in line and get as many of the most fragrant orchids I could get my hands on.

Mike, your zygos are really nice! Almost makes me want to add a few more to my collection. Have you found that they tend to grow big or do yours stay small? Mine is the largest of my orchids and the leaves easily span 24 inches. Also do you find they want more shade or more light? Mine was super happy shaded by a wall under my window with minimal direct light and has been a little out of sorts since I added some grow lights for the citrus. Has started perking up a bit since moved him to a more shaded corner. I'll post photos when it blooms.

Matt, do you find the apricot grows well in a pot? I've been told before that they can, but have no direct experience. Are your peaches potted as well?

    Bonsai, thanks)

I find mine love lots of muted light and direct sunlight in winter Artificial lights too. I find they do ok in lower light levels and the leaves turn a rich green, but they also have a lack of flowers the less light they get. If yours do really well where you say you have them, then don't fix what isn't broken. Do they flower in that spot? They are probably getting more light than you realize. I have found they don't require as much sunlight as let's say dendrobiums or ondidiums. There are varieties they don't grow that tall and I can take a few photos for you. I like the ones that grow short and compact. Hard to find but well worth the search. I can help you get one or two when I have to divide)

Sara, wow that is really blooming out of season, but who cares, right? You are so lucky to see all those blooms at this time. What a nice looking plant you have there) Love the 'true' Christmas Cactus. Hard to find these days

Mike, I have found the same. Muted or slightly shady. In the area I usually grow my plants I don't really have "shaded" per-se just bright and not really so bright at least during the day. Ha. The orchids have been growing wonderful for years in their little spaces, blooming annually. The zygo showed some signs of stress after I added the grow lights to extend the day a bit for the citrus during the short winter days. The citrus loved it, the zygo didn't. Since moving it, it's been happier, but I was curious what others had found with the same plants. I'm glad to hear that there are smaller varieties, I love the smell of the zygo, but I prefer my plants more compact, so I've been curious if the size of mine is just the particular variety. (Got it from a grocery store years ago, they didn't know what it was and it was unlabeled. Beyond knowing that it's a zygo, I don't know variety.)

Bonsai. Took a couple of pics of my smaller compact ones for you. I too don’t prefer the tall bigger ones. Took some time to find them but I can tell you where I get them and names if you’d like. I love them. Very fragrant!

Forgot. The plant leaves Are no longer than a foot tall Probably less

Mike, thanks! I would love the names and where you got them. Less than a foot is better than a 6 inch pseudobulb and 24-36 inch leafspan. I find plants of that size tend to be a little difficult to accomodate, and much easier for someone to accidentally damage.

Bonsai. I totally forgot to give you names !! I so sorry. I’ll be back soon. Watch for it. So sorry. Got caught up with life ((

Orchid party! I feel like I finally have my phal game down pat. They are ALL about to bloom or blooming. Last few years, I've gotten 1/3-1/2 to bloom.

our pet snails came out of dormancy this week, too! A sure sign that the 10- foot pile of snow at the end of the drive won't be here for long!

Mike, no worries. It's been a crazy time for everyone, I think. Amynoacids you have some nice phaels!

Washingtonia filifera yesterday. I know there's still snow but it has pretty much survived it's first winter outdoors in Canada.

It's been slowly opening this center leaf since October under it's box.

It was planted sept 1 2020 very exciting!

We may have just had two more inches of snow, and three feet on the ground, but it's spring and summer indoors.

I haven't named it yet, but this is a baby pomegranate tree, about six weeks old. It's in a 2 1/2 pot, receiving sunlight at the window and artificial light from sunset to bedtime and my wakeup time until the sun strikes it. It's just sprouted from a pomegranate seed from a pomegranate from the grocery store for sheer fun and I have no expectations for it.

The Ageratum That Will Not Die. Fed organically (20%) and synthetically, it just keeps blooming more nicely as the winter wears on.

A "struggling" tropical hibiscus started in...November, I think? Named "Brandy." That's her individual name, not the cultivar. She was struggling a bit, but has recovered recently with keeping the soil moist (there's some cyanobacteria mats on the soil right now), and feeding a lot more than I normally would in February since she's under lights 18 hours a day.

Bonsai, here you go. The names of the smaller very fragrant zygo’s)

This one is only a bit taller than a little bottle of drinking water. Couldn’t find my tape measurer. I’d say 8 inches tall. Also a few more plants responding to longer days )

One of most colorful Hoya plants. Love this one. The new leaves start out almost black then color up.

Ferocactus macrodiscus. I like the scaley outside of the blooms.

Mike, Thanks! I will definitely look them up.

Fig tree is just now starting to wake up and push new leaves. Surprisingly, though indoors at a window, this tree loses its leaves every winter and grows new in spring.

Apricots!! I've never had fruit this early.
