Btw, my tile guy recommended a 1/3 offset pattern instead of 1/2 offset (running bond) as shown in the photo you posted- he said it’s better to do 1/3 offset for 24” x 12” tiles.

When working with real wood tones (like your floors) I like to see plenty of BLUE or GREEN in the stone (or stone look) product. Blue grays look STUNNING next to golden woods. They really show off each other's best properties.

When shopping for tiles, take the samples OUTSIDE to see the undertones. What you see in the showroom lighting will be VERY different in real sunlight/outdoor light. As soon as you see strong blue or green tones (can be a jade tone) you know you are on the right track...to bring home the samples.

This comes down to lighting and personal choice. My preference is a darker blue - like soapstone or slate. But others have successfully added crisp white (crisp means it runs more BLUE than yellow/pink).

The first set of photos show a stone-like product that is purply/brown. That means it is a bit muddy which is causing the clash with the hardwoods.

You have to know it and like it. If it catches your eye in the store, then bring it home to look at it. The match to the counter top isn't necessary. The counter top 'appears' to be a brown/black. That can be hard to mimic on the ground without moving into a 'milk chocolate' colour.

I'm really into blues right now (and have been for 3 years). But before that I loved reds and purples! So my taste isn't going to work for you unless it is ALSO your taste.

Look to your WARDROBE to tell you what types of colours make you happy. Go from there. And yes...'dressing' your kitchen is very much like dressing yourself.

Thoughts on patterned tile. I have always loved black and white pattern tiles like this. Would it be crazy to do this pattern?

I think it would be less overwhelming to do one of those as a backsplash tile instead of a floor tile, and easier to change out if you get tired of it. The New Ravenna one does not look like a floor tile- is it rated as a floor tile? I do like this one as a backsplash tile :)

Perhaps start thinking about what you want for a backsplash in addition to the floor so you can pull together a look that you want.

No plans for a backsplash unfortunately.

This is a beige sample (lvp) but looking for tile that is similar. I think I like this much better. What are your thoughts?

I’m not sure. It looks like it has a slight pinkish tone, which would not be a good combination with your floor. Colors are hard to evaluate online, though. I do like it better than your original choice.

Oh gosh, i'll be the naysayer.... but i think the *colors* in your existing linoleum go so much better with your existing hardwood than any of those gray/dark tiles do. I know you have to replace it, and it's not trendy right now - so the linoleum obviously has to go. But when i compare how it looks vs the tile samples.... ugh, at least on my monitor the latter are just not looking great.

The photo of the beige tiles on top of your linoleum .... the linoleum makes the tile look mauve. But I also thought all the dark tiles at the top of the thread looked too blue / pink too.

It must be the lighting/camera. I can see the darker gray having a mauve tint and the light gray looked too blue. But I can’t see any pink in this beige.

Mauve = pink. Beige = brown/orange tones...or yellow like wheat.

B G...would you happen to be male? I'm just curious. Up to 30% of men have some form of colour blindness. It can be subtle...but it is there.

Gray is MUCH better than beige. Gray with BLUE in it = good idea. Gray with PURPLE in it bad idea. Gray with GREEN in it = Good idea. Gray with PINK in it = bad idea.

One thing you can do is take PHOTOS of your kitchen and your wood floors WITH you (ie. on your phono) and show them to the SALES PERSON. A WELL TRAINED flooring sales person (not Home Depot) can help you create the right look with the rest of your choices.

If you are not painting, then go with a gray that has green in it. It will look very sharp with your yellow walls.

We are repainting!!! I have loved the yellow but it’s time. It looks awful with new cabinet colors.

Figure out your floors and your counter tops. I know you have a piece of your counter top...but on my monitor it reads 'brown'. A blue wall with a brown counter is going to have issues.

I like the blue wall colour....BUT you can have TOO MUCH of a good thing. You want some contrast between the wall colour and the floor colour. There should be 3-4 shades of separation between floors and walls.

The counters are chocolate. That's what I thought. Do not CHANGE the blue chip...Just go LIGHTER. Add more WHITE to the blue chip you had. And the yellow in your space is really causing issues with colours. I still see deep chocolate on the counter top.

Personally I like the Graphite Granite as it pulls gray/blue. It would be IMPRESSIVE with the blue floor tiles and a pale blue/silver wall tone.

Yes of course will paint a large sample but looks more blue than green in our lighting.

Sea Salt is green. Once you COVER the YELLOW walls with WHITE PRIMER (ahem...yellow is being thrown on to the paint chip...) you can reassess your colour choices.

When are you planning on covering up the yellow with primer?????? It is super important you do this BEFORE choosing any colour.

Do it BEFORE...You don't want to find out the TILE was wrong because it looks DIFFERENT in a room with white walls. And besides...paint on new flooring = HUGE HEADACHE!
