Did you check availability of that Bosch SHPM78Z54N? It's back-ordered on Home Depot and not available on Best Buy for my DC zip code.

What did you decide? I am in same situation, Right now I am leaning towards a black cooktop with my black GEN air stove and the rest of the plant says GE Slate: fridge, hood, dishwasher, microwave. Very annoyed that GE has no cooktop in Slate. Not sure Bosch will work in Slate.

I have the bosch 800 series black stainless frig, micro and dishwasher. Love the Color and finish. Unlike all other brands of black stainless, which is just a film over stainless and can scratch bosch color is baked in , no scratching. However at the moment bosch black stainless is almost impossible to get. Most stores say it could take a year and others will not take any more orders.

I will never buy stainless appliances again. Unless there is something out there I am not aware of I hate the upkeep and ours are not stainless! They DO stain and were a total waste of my money. They are currently 5 years old, medium-high grade/quality (I will not mention the brand). They have not worked out for me and my family. I am not a fan - in case you didn't get it lol.

I should have said although we have a mid-high quality 'stainless' stove and fridge - the finish stains. It easily gets stains (not dints or scratches) that do not come out. Concentrated cleaning only leads to permanent degradation of the finish. "Stainless" sinks and countertops seem to be the exception because they scratch up overtime to develop a butler's patina. I hate any stainless finish on appliances. It is a gross trend that has got out of hand.

99.999% of owners would probably disagree. Stainless is the easiest to match across appliance brands and product types, and easy to maintain. I just use Mrs. Meyers Multi-Surface and a paper towel. Weiman Stainless Steel Cleaner and Polish is popular.

Not my experience. Maybe I bought lemons. I will never go this route again.
