Small Living Room - Area Rug or Carpet Runner?

My living room is not a perfect rectangle shape. The exterior wall is slanted so there are no 90 degree corners on one end of the room.
The room itself is very small but I would like to get some type of carpeting if it would work.
Is this possible given the dimensions and pictures provided?
Couch - 6'5"
Living Room - 10' x 8'5"
Length of wall behind couch - 8'5"
Any input is appreciated. Thank you!!!
Would a carpet runner between the couch and the ottoman be an alternative for a smaller room?
