Whirlpool 27” single self clean wall oven installed under counter sounds like a haunted house whoooo machine, problem from first use. Fan has been replaced, sound checked with meter (louder 20 feet away than 10 feet away), and Whirlpool says it is “within parameters” and “case closed.” The Brick Canada, where I bought it, says it is a Whirlpool problem. This oven is installed side by side with a Whirlpool convection oven, which technician says has a different fan and it is audible but quieter and not annoying. My fix is going to be replacing the plain oven with another convection oven and selling the noisy one. Buyer beware! Ironically I bought these ovens because the Whirlpool convection oven is highly rated by Consumer Reports. I guess they only make one good model - don’t buy any other one!

Does anyone have the new Viking French Door wall oven? Or the American Range French Door electric oven? I've heard that the doors get hot. I'm wondering if anyone has experience with them and can give an honest review.

Microwaves come with own ventilation so can be placed inside a cupboard, do not have to be "vented". This was my worry at first. It solved my question as to what to do with it. Considering a double oven range with hood now, or another thought that I am playing with is a 6 burner cooktop, with TWO ovens below side by side. 36" ranges seem as though they do not have as much oven size..... any thoughts???

If you're looking for workhorse ovens at a smaller price, you might want to consider Kitchenaid. Have both conventional and convection settings and big space inside- a 30" with 5 cubic feet inside, at that price is rare- even many of the higher end ovens can't match the space. Kitchenaids don't break down much, but if there are repairs needed down the line, they don't carry the nosebleed repair costs of others. I've been really taken with the side swing open features of the newer ovens. What a revelation, for me- short- not to have to struggle to get things in/out of the oven, not to have to open the door down. Gaggenau can't be beat for the feature and the performance. But also expensive. If you're interested in the feature, though, Bosch Benchmark series has one that has true European convection features, side swing opening and good service records. Very similar to the Gaggenau, just not quite as high-end. Each of these brands is owned by the same parent company, so they share some technology... I agree with Sophie, though. You may want to take a hard look at your budget. If oven baking/cooking is a priority of yours, consider increasing your budget. Over the life of the remodel, it will pay off for you in many ways.
