choosing flooring for kitchen ?

hey all, I'm looking at vinyl plank flooring for my small kitchen (around 100sq ft) I'm going to be getting black stainless steel appliances but I'm terrible at choosing colors and types especially that will match with my hardwood floor and will compliment my green accent wall, if you have links to anything specific I'd be really appreciative between "light or dark" I have no idea on specifics thanks all!

OK...first off: DO NOT add in a fake wood look (ie wood look vinyl planks) when you already have real wood in the space. It is A BIG design No-No.

Don't worry. I'm not killing your idea for vinyl click flooring. I'm just suggesting you go with a different VISUAL. That means a STONE or TILE look vinyl product will work MUCH better. Like WAY better. Soooooooo much better.

I did a quick search of Lowe's website. Here's the link to the page I was searching:

I would look at this TYPE of option:

Home Decorators Collection Sannita Dark 12 in. x 24 in. Luxury Vinyl Plank (19.58 sq. ft. / case)-60204 - The Home Depot

I like the slate look for your space. You will notice the orange tones will work VERY well with your hardwood (colour compliment) and it has a snick of dark slate it it which *should do well with your green wall.

What I was trying to find was a greenish look to the slate:

TrafficMASTER Allure 12 in. x 24 in. Harrison Slate Vinyl Tile (24 sq. ft. / case) (valefloor.net)

Any of these STONE visuals will give you the vinyl that you want in a visual that is more appropriate than a fake wood look.

My comment wasn't clear, sorry. I meant leave the wood portion that is in the dining area of the space but modernize it. Then install your tile in the kitchen area of the space and bump it up against the wood. Without seeing the space, it's hard to tell for sure, but you should be able to use the two floor surfaces. Would save some money.

It's good to firstly choose something that you simply love the look of ! But also check the practicalities - ie dark flooring shows dust and pale pet fluff and muddy paw prints etc . light shows muddy paw prints and spills too - which is either a good thing as you know to clean it - or a bad thing as this become a daily chore ! If you have green ethics than choose something locally sourced or with a small footprint etc etc etc

Definitely can do hardwood. It will be beautiful. Anything else will look goofy with such a large transition. Run the boards in the other direction, that's very common. And don't worry about a dishwasher leak, don't live in fear. That's what insurance is for.
