Help with Living Room/Dining Room combo remodel layout

I have a open concept L shaped dining/living/kitchen combo. We'd like to have the living room to house a TV and enough seating for our family of 6, but our current set up is not working very well as you can see in the picture below.

We are willing to move walls, doors, windows, plumbing, etc to remodel the space into something functional.

We were thinking something like this to get a bigger living room:

But we have no idea how to layout the living room, there are still no walls to put a TV on or a central couch area.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Here is a blank canvas with dimensions if there alternative ideas for the kitchen/dining area as well. Thanks in advance. We've been frustrated by this design puzzle for over 2 years.

Bigger plan? Which is the front door, the bay or by the stair? Does the switchback winder stair (really 18 risers so high ceiling?) go to heavily-used functions upstairs, and how far down does it hang into the space by the Master door? Can the stair be re-oriented? Doesn't look like has stair to basement? Can the bumpout with the twin closets be utilized?

@3onthetree I have added full floor plans to original post

-Front door is the one near the stairs.

-Stairs are actually 17, if you count the 2nd floor as a step :)

-9ft ceilings.

-2nd story is kid zone: 4 kids bedrooms, 1 Jack & Jill bath and a playarea

-Wedge for stairs measures 25" to its lowest point on the wall. (Picture below)

-I'd love to put the stairs somewhere else, but can't figure where.

-No basement, on slab.

-I'd love to utilize that twin closet area, walls can be taken down, ceilings in both closets have the same height as the main floor.
