What size area rug for foyer?

What size area rug would be appropriate for my front entrance? It is 10.5' x 5.5'. Suggestions as to what shape - rectangle, round, etc? Where would you place the area rug - right up against the door, centered, a foot from the door? Thank you for your input.

I'd use a 5 x 8 rug which would take up about this amount of space.

CDR has nailed it! Always so nice to have expert help! I have the same exact question - but my foyer is longer vs wide like yours. I think I’m going to have to order a 5’ x 8’. I thought that seemed too large - but I received a 4’ x 6’ yesterday - and it’s too small. I really wish I could find an in-between size. . .

Get backless barstools. I like the idea of a pub table with a glass top and wooden base that can seat 4. Please help with rugs for open area dining/living/foyer.

Tape off the area that you intend to put rugs on that way you can see what size you need ,most people buy too small ,your furniture should at least have the front two legs sitting on the rug...in the dining room the rug should be large enough to pull out all chairs when eating while still being on the rug

Put painters tape on the floor in all the sizes you are considering, then pick which looks best to you. But definitely just one rug.

You'll need to go with a 5x7 rug . That's a standard size and will be easy to find. You could go smaller with a 4x6...... but your max will be 5x7.

@dmac1108 you can always get a custom rug made from carpeting or you can consider Flor.com. They are carpet tiles you can cut to whatever size you want.

Well, it is rug made out of carpeting with edges finished. Everyone has a different budget and taste. To some, this suggestion would be horrid. But, to others it would look great. Depending on your style and budget, these are nice alternatives. In a more contemporary house, I think these options would work well.

Not sure what size this would be, but an area rug close to this will work.

How do you use the space?? If you anticipate a lot of use (muddy, wet, dirty shoes) I'd put the rug up against the door.

Ruggable - washable...5 x 7. And I would center it for a foyer, for sure.
