LG or GE Appliances - need input please?

Install is set for week of 5/31, so I'm trying to line up stuff. I want the following in Stainless Steel (fingerprint resistant), and like a sleek look if possible:

1) French Door Refrigerator (Counter Depth, but largest one I can find lol)

2) Slide in Range (maybe Double Oven)...maybe Air Fry, but not necessary

3) Dishwasher

4) Microwave - above range probably...still deciding

I do like the look and function of the LG Door in Door, not necessary but looks like it would be useful. I do want ice on outside.

Has anyone mixed brands?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks, Missy

Thanks! I do have one above now and it’s ok...I’m not tell though lol

I have no matching manufacturers. I have a gas range, a double oven, a dishwasher, a microwave, and a refrigerator...each in stainless steel and each from a different manufacturer. I also have a stainless countertop that I had custom fabricated for the peninsula the range sits in. I bought the appliances based on the ones that offered the best features and styles. Yes, there are slight differences in the stainless finishes from all these different sources, but it's not something I ever worry about.

I agree with doing that...if I bought all the same it might be if they off rebates or discounts on buying all same

I have 3 different manufacturers for my 3 major kitchen appliances -- one of which is my LG induction range (slide in), which I love,

    Missy-

I wasn't trying to convince you to follow my approach necessarily. Just saying that it worked fine for me. What you will find if you live in a house long enough is that appliances will fail one at a time, so it becomes sort of inevitable that your appliances won't perfectly match as time goes on and you replace things. Nothing wrong with everything matching if you can get a good deal and all the appliances have all the features you want, but there is no law that says you can't mix things up. ;-)

Any brand for a certain appliance to stay away from?

No one manufacturer makes the "best" of all appliances. Some do better with cooking, others refrigeraration, others DWs. E.g.,

    * Bosch or Miele for DWs

    * GE for cooking appliances (unless you go more expensive...then Miele usually get's great reviews here)

    * Not sure about refrigerators unless you go more expensive (SubZero, Liebherr)

    • I know I would never get an LG refrigerator again. We've had one for almost 2 years and I hate it!
    • It cannot maintain the temperature and things in the back and in the crisper & meat drawers freeze, no matter how I arrange items in the refrigerator to ensure adequate air circulation.
    • I also find the drawers too small b/c they tried to be fancy with extras that are not needed. E.g., a so-called "berry" drawer b/w the two crisper drawers that does nothing but reduce the sizes of the crisper drawers to the point where you can barely fit anything in them
    • The deli/meat drawer is difficult to use because it's too shallow and it doesn't open fully or even easily...and you have to open both doors to use it.
    • Our GE Profile refrigerator had a much better layout (so much more functional!!) and did a better job at controlling the temperature. It died after 10 years, so I thought I'd try another brand -- bit mistake! 10 years was probably pretty good for modern appliances.

The reality is that every manufacturer makes lemons at times, and paying large amounts of money does not always guarantee that an appliance will have trouble-free performance or reach a reasonable service life. Check the reviews for specific appliances, and make sure you get a good warranty. When I bought a refrigerator a couple of months ago from Costco they included a second year of warranty for free, and added 2 more years because I charged it to my Costco credit card, so 4 years in all.

I have a Samsung gas range , an LG dishwasher, a GE fridge and Panasonic microwave. They are all stainless steel and have curved handles so the look great together. I researched all of them extensively prior to my purchase. I am quite pleased with them all. Best of luck in your choices❣️

I have an LG range and would not recommend it. The Samsung dishwasher I had was a POS -- Bosch all the way for dishwasher.

I was initially thinking to go with one brand, because I thought the fingerprint stainless may not match but I may definitely look into different brands. I was thinking LG for everything but may now reconsider. Thanks

Anyone have opinion on best Counter Depth refrigerator brand/model, around $2,500-$3,500 price range?

    "...best Counter Depth..."

That's a hard thing for anyone to recommend, because "best" means different things to different people. What do you want in your fridge - what do you consider "best"?

I got this one over 3 years ago: https://www.geappliances.com/appliance/GE-Profile-ENERGY-STAR-23-1-Cu-Ft-Counter-Depth-Fingerprint-Resistant-French-Door-Refrigerator-PWE23KYNFS

No bells & whistles, but it's been problem free. Flexible shelving & super easy to keep clean. The door bins hold a gallon and two quart containers on either side, and the other door bins hold lots of condiments & small jars so that your shelves stay free for food. I use square plastic containers a lot & stack them, not just plastic wrap thrown over bowls, so that helps. The produce bins could be a tad bigger, but I've yet to have a head of lettuce that doesn't fit, & it helps to cut the root off of long celery. The shelves are easy to rearrange as your needs change for the holidays or parties. I like that the deli tray has variable temperatures: if I have thawed ground beef, but plan on using it in a day or two, I can set the deli tray to a colder temperature & keep the ground beef there until needed.

The ice maker does its job, and the freezer bin is more capacious than it looks. The upper tray holds stacked Pepperidge Farm bread loaves, just to give you an idea of its height. (I usually have four loaves in the upper tray, 2 over 2.)

We got this to replace a gargantuan GE 29 cu. ft. fridge with bells & whistles that served us well for 14 years (though the bells & whistles died one by one). I wasn't expecting to like my new "tiny" basic fridge. Fridge sizes have changed, & the smaller counterdepths are the only types that will fit through our doorways. But turns out I really, really like this refrigerator.
