Something does not compute......you can handle a 15A Skil Saw, but not a hack saw?

There is a tool called a pipe cutter. Just tell the person at the hardware store what size pipe you need to cut and they will give you the correct one.

Given the number of rods I have to cut - I'd like to cut down on time (thus not really interested in a hack saw) -

Based on the number of rods you have to cut, I recommend a chop saw. Would cost ~2x as much as a reciprocating saw.

Jigsaw with metal cutting blade would work too. But if you have a hacksaw and none of the above, driving to the store to purchase something else would take longer than cutting "several" with what you have.

You can use a cheap carborundum blade in your Skil saw too.

Maybe I have used the wrong or cheap hacksaws in the past??? Is there a really good hacksaw that doesn’t take forever to cut a rod? Also was hoping for a less jagged cut, more smooth. Thought something else could achieve both.

Used chop saws can often be found when someone has upgraded to a sliding compound power miter saw. I got mine for cheap and have been using it for 10+ years. Check Craig's List.

If it was too heavy gauge to easily cut with a hack saw, I'd use an angle grinder, which would slice through it in 5 seconds: Bosch Angle Grinder

Just purchase a Stanley professional grade hack saw with proper metal blade .

About the 80s in a Metalworking Operation we noticed our orders of steel started making a “Loud Pop vs a Quite Shearing Cut”. We contacted the Sales Rep to learn they were carrying two grades of some steels. We needed and wanted Cold Roll Steel to cut and form into ‘Wrought Iron Work”. Vs "High Carbon" Rebar Grade in Concrete Streets.

My 14" Metal Cutting Chop-Saw and Wheels have worked "Great" since the 80's. It also works great with a Carbide Blade for cutting Pallet Planks as starter Firewood. Plus, any Firewood that would easily fit into the saw. With Pre-Cut Firewood, it has been a Dream.

We're talking simple hollow metal closet rods right? Not black iron gas pipes or galvanized steel or anything...

And in the future... if you need to cut other materials... buy new appropriate blades and go to town...
