Bosch panel ready dishwasher with 2 drawer fronts.

I have decided that I want the Bosch 800 series panel ready DW. All of the information that I have seen shows attaching a panel to be what looks like a pretty easy and straight forward job. Unfortunately, all the info I have seen shows this job being done with a single door panel (24"x30"). In the area where my DW will be going, it will be in a continuous run of only drawer bottoms, no doors. So, in an effort to keep things looking symmetrical, I would like to add 2 drawer fronts as my panel instead ( two 24"x15"). Trying to do this following the directions I have seen from Bosch (again, meant for a single panel) would make it seem like the top drawer front would only have 2 screws in it and the bottom would also have only 2, since there would be a separation between them in the middle. So how do I alleviate this issue? I am assuming I have to use a bracket of some kind, and route out an area at the bottom of the top panel and the top of the bottom panel so that the bracket would then sit flush and make them one piece? I have slight concerns with this as these are ikea drawer fronts, (MDF with melamine) and would be worried about breaking the melamine and allowing moisture in. Any thoughts?

No, the directions describe how to build and install a two-piece panel.

I had not seen these instructions in the manual. But even though they are for 2 panel installation, it is only for small panel up top and large panel on bottom (simulating small 5" drawer with 25" cabinet door). My setup is 2 15" drawers, so I still have the same issue as before.

The SPOLAD is IKEA's custom-front dishwasher and instructions for preparing and installing the panel are linked to the webpage. The VÅGLIG Connecting rail for fronts is designed to help do what you are trying to do i.e, use multiple panels. Read the linked Assembly Instructions. Perhaps the VAGLIG would help you do what you want with the Bosch dishwasher.

I know about the connecting rail for the spolad dishwasher. But I do not want to use Ikea's dishwasher, I want the Bosch. That is were the trouble lies. If the Spolad dishwasher was as good as the Bosh 800, then I would just get that and call it a day. But all the info I have read about it indicate that is is not anywhere near as good. As far as I can tell from reading the instructions with that front rail, it is made specifically to hook into slots on the spolad dishwasher, and would not be useful in this scenario.

Maybe you should just put a single door panel on the dishwasher. I mean, is it really going to make that much difference if you put a handle on it that matches those on the other cabinet doors and drawers?

Maybe not to other people, but yes it would make a huge difference to me. The entire point of doing only drawers on the bottom is to have it be symmetrical. So that it has the same horizontal and vertical lines at the same levels throughout the kitchen. Without following that pattern, it would be the same in my eyes as having an all white kitchen but since I can't find one more white door using a beige one instead since its close enough.

I have the 18” Bosch panel ready dishwasher. Like the 24” one it has 4 screws on each side to hold the panel or panels on. I’ve just gone to measure mine, and the second set of screws from the bottom are pretty much right at 15” from the bottom of the panel. If the hole spacing is the same on the 24” then this second set of screws won’t catch your bottom drawer front. So you plan wouldn’t work. Now, your screw pattern might be different, as the 18” is ADA compliant, so can be as low as 32”or 32.5” tall and I don’t think that’s true of the 24”. I think 24” is a normal ~34.5” height.

I briefly searched online for the template that’s included with the dishwasher that shows the screw spacing, and I didn’t find it.

But you can easily see the screws on the inside of the dishwasher. If you visit one in person at an appliance store, bring a tape measure, open the door, and measure the distance from the bottom of the door to that 2nd set of screws. I’d say anything 15.5” or more and you’d be fine, and would end up with 4 screws holding each panel.

    Good luck!

Sara, Did you ever figure this out. I have done this with drawers in a bathroom where I wanted the bank of drawer look but some drawers were going to be deeper or double depth. My designer drew out the for cabinet maker one panel that looked exactly like it was two drawers. Oh and the drawers were all inset, they looked exactly like the operating drawers down to two handles.

I just have a single door on mine. I attached it myself, and while reading through the “instructions” (more like a complex pictographs), it was clear that instead of this single door I could have attached a drawer front at the top and a shorter door below. This would have allowed me to match the look of the sink cabinet to the right of it.

I chose not to bother, as I have another full height door cabinet to the left of the dishwasher. It seemed easier, and less confusing for people who don’t live here to spot the dishwasher, to go with a single door.

Looking at the screw pattern on the inside of my dishwasher, it looks like you could even have two doors if equal heights (instead of a this top panel and tall bottom panel) and you’d be able to hold each by 4 screws. But you couldn’t do a stack of 3 drawer fronts as there’s not enough screws towards the bottom of the dishwasher.
