Anyone have Namib White, Mystery White or Bianco Rhino White Marble?

I've been told that all of the above marbles are the same. Does anyone have in their kitchen? We are looking at the Namib White Marble. Wanted to know how it is holding up in your home. If you have sealed? How is the staining, etching, chipping? I know it's marble so there will be a degree of this. Also if anyone has, could you please post a picture? I am deciding between Danby Olympian White Select MArble and the Namib White....the Danby is very hard to come by so I may have to get the Namib by default.

Thank you in advance

I plan on getting a honed finish for the reason of etching and am ready to embrace the etching patina that will come with it.

I was told that the Danby marbles are less porous than some other marbles and may be a lilttle more forgiving with stains. I would absolutley initially seal and annually seal whatever marble we get. I guess I am concerned with the Namib White marble a little more with staining since it is all white and cream colored. The Olympian White Danby has more veining and color so thought it would be able to hide stain better. So sounds like your saying that staining shouldn't be too much of an issue if we seal properly/maintain seal and also if we are somewhat diligent with prompt stain removal.

@rhonda2227, honed or polished? Did you seal it?

Mary Elizabeth- I didn’t seek the Mont Blanc out, something went wrong with the other countertop order, went back to yard and found that stone….it’s not installed yet but when it is I will post pics. It’s a pretty stone.

Rhonda that marble is gorgeous. I’m getting something similar. How are you liking or loving it so far?

I don't have it in my kitchen, but I do have it in my master bath and it is beautiful. It's been bulletproof so far after 3 years.

“vermont danby is .6 % aborbent which is better than most granites!!!!”

@Rebecca Watt - your statement is incorrect. Danby is a marble and will stain and etch like any other marble. It may be less chip-prone than many other marbles but that is it. Idk how this myth that Danby marble behaves like granite got started.

Your ”.6%” absorption rate for Danby is much higher than even Kashmir White granite which is one of the most notoriously stain-prone granites. Kashmir White granite absorption rate is 0.3-0.5%. That contrasts with the the majority of granites with absorption rates in the range of 0.1-0.3%.

Danby is beautiful. It is expensive. If you love it, get it, but don’t be under illusions about it.

Actually her statement is true, she just miss-wrote the number. Danby as an average open porosity of 0.06-0.08. Far more dense than the average granite. Yes some granites get low absorption, like Blue Bahia and Absolute Black, but the majority of them are way higher at .2-.4 open porosity. The difference is that most granites are so dark they hide the imperfections so they don't have that reputation. That being said, the staining is not the problem that people are concerned about with marble like Danby or similar heavy calcium composition marble, it's the etching from acids. But that's a whole other conversation and the moral of the story is that every natural material absorbs. We have wine parties and cook on our marble all the time and have never had any stains, but our marble in particular is in the same family of the Vermont material with very low absorption and high density, but we also don't spill wine and leave it sitting there for 3 days before cleaning it up. Softer marble or lower grade marble (bc the quarry changes depending on where you extract from) that's like a sugar will give you problems.
