Perhaps not everyone knows what Mapei Avalanche Grout looks like. If you’ve hung out on this site, you should know to post pics.

Sweet thanks for your response! I don’t know what it looks like that’s why I’m asking! I want the opinion of people who have used it which evidently isn’t you.

Just curious if anyone has used the Mapei grout Avalanche colour recently? Do you find it pulls pink? Some of the online samples look that way? I’d be pairing it with a white gloss subway tile..TIA!!

I'd go with white for white subway tiles. Isn't avalanche a bit taupe?

On different threads I’ve read it’s actually brighter then the white one they carry but others have reported it to have some pink undertones which I definitely don’t want..

The bad news is that the safest method is to make up a sample board using your tiles, grouted with the Avalanche and test it in your space with your lighting. Yes, you'll have to buy the whole dang bag.

I'm not sure even this is 100% reliable because there are other factors, e.g. amount of water used, that might cause differing color outcomes between your board and your backsplash.

Haha, @darburka! If someone doesn't know what it looks like, they wouldn't be the one to answer. Showing them what a bag of grout looks like isn't going to help them answer. SMH

Haha, do you know how many different shades of white subway tile there are? You're asking a question that is impossible to answer without seeing the tile and the grout.

The question is more about the grout and whether or not it pulls any pink undertones. If you have nothing to contribute to this topic there is no need to respond. Thanks #postpolice

This is my shower, white subway with mapei white grout. Maybe get both white and avalanche and sample them. I remember when I looked at it it had a taupe-y undertone.

Thank you for this! I went ahead and got a bag of the avalanche and the sample is drying as we speak! Appreciate your feed back.

When you post on a on open forum asking for thoughts, you're going to get opinions, ideas and views. No one was rude to you. Just stating the obvious. It's impossible to answer a question like does white match white. You didn't even really ask a question, and then you cop an attitude with the very first person who comments. I did have something to contribute, which was to help you to ask the volunteers here for advice in a reasonable way.

Mapei avalanche is whiter than Mapei white. You really need to see the grout stick against the tile because it can go a little yellow or a little gray/dull.

Forgive the lighting.... but I will tell you this. We wanted white tile with white grout and were told by a store called Floor and Decor that Avalanche is the whitest white. I have no idea if that is true or not but I do know that it did not come out white. We even used the FlexColor CQ which is supposed to guarantee an even grout tone. This is darker than the frost color which we have used before. When I saw it I thought it must have been mislabeled. Mapei tech came out and said it’s the right color. I’m not an expert but I know this isn’t white. It’s either a quality control issue or it just never matches the sample. I‘ll spare everyone the details but let’s just say that I would not recommend using Avalanche for a white grout even though it’s the “whitest white”. And i would steer you away from Mapei altogether. Use at your own risk.

Matt Franklin, did you notice any scratches on the glossy tiles after using FlexColor CQ? I'm trying to figure out which grout to use for glossy tiles. This grout was awesome on our bathroom floor, but I'm not sure about using something with quartz in it for glossy tiles.

Matt Franklin, it sounds like you didn't get the end result that you wanted....but I just wanted to take the time to tell you that your bath looks great, even so.

Nicolecasey what was the end result? I’m thinking of doing alabaster with white subway in shower..
