Please help to accessorize family room....

Need two lamps for either side of the sofa, need a floor lamp in the corner between the recliner and the tv, need nesting tables next to both recliners (fireplace side), need tall plant for corner, need some kind of art over the sofa.

Or as she posted yesterday, a post with dark frames, nice sharpness.

What do you think of these? Are they too small? They are each 20“ x 16“ I haven’t checked art.com to see if they have different sizes of them.

I vote for more neutral art as well. Sizes are a guess...

Might be a small thing - from what seating, or place, would you most like to see a particular piece of art? fireplace also...

kjoy thank you so much, that really helps a lot! I think those pieces look great, but still wondering if there is anything else similar that I should consider.

everbez sitting in the recliners you would be able to look at the art. Sitting on the sofa you look directly at the fireplace.

Look what I found at Kirklands! They are each 23” x 30”. I think they’re perfect, what do think?

The frame is similar in color to the tables

    Hey Monica

    Great find!
I have been sick and had family in town...trying to catch up!

Oh no, so sorry to hear you weren’t feeling well. I hope you’re on the mend now...and hosting family? That must have been pretty tough.

Yes, looks like the coffee table and end table will deliver this week hopefully. The chair side table will not deliver until first part of May. Both lamps have arrived; need to put together the floor lamp now. Will start working on the pillows in earnest.

OK two of the three tables have arrived and I have placed them in the room, do I have the right placement of the tables? How about the pictures, are they the right distance apart? How many inches up from the back of the sofa? Starting to get serious about ordering some pillows, toying around with going all neutral or neutral with green banded or abandoning the green all together and doing combinations of solid neutral with neutral/navy detail or Navy detail with navy detail as shown in the following pillows.

    Good morning,
OK, after sitting with these ideas for a few days have finally decided for certain on the cream pillow with the horizontal navy lines that Julie originally suggested! Just ordered it today. Not sure yet on what to pair with it, might wait for it to arrive and start trying different combinations. I know the green banded one word look nice with it, but not certain that I want to go with green accents or stay neutral. If I go neutral, does anyone have any feedback about a jute trim on a off-white pillow as shown above? Here are the two I was thinking of, but could be swayed!!!!

    Good morning

yes start with the pillow you ordered than see what you need to add after that...if no green I love all neutrals and it will look lovely once you add the new fireplace neutral stone..the tables look just great! Casual nice style...with pillows you could add neutral pillows trimmed in charcoal color too. When hanging art no more than 2-3” apart.

    Thanks for the feedback Julie!

Understand 2 to 3 inches apart for the art, but how high? Should it be centered in that space above the sofa?

And, Glad to see you’re BACK! Are you feeling 100% now or still healing?

Oh, one more question, do you think I should consider a lumbar pillow versus a slightly smaller square to pair with the one I bought?

  • PRO

art centered over sofa...middle should be around 62” from the floor..if it is to close to top of sofa after you measure hang it about one full hand length above sofa.

Yes a lumbar added to sofa with the pillow you order would look nice...

Thanks..feeling better last day of meds!

    1 or 2 lumbars?

  • PRO

Just one..with 2 of the blue stripe or one blue stripe and another complimentary neutral.

    Ok to clarify:

The ivory with blue stripe on either end with a neutral lumbar in the middle

    or

The ivory with blue stripe on either end with a neutral to pair with each one

These are the two options you are suggesting, right? Sorry to be a bother, just didn’t get it!

    Hi Monica
Ok so you could do matching pillows at each end of sofa with one lumbar.... or you could do complimenting pillows but not matching at each end and add a lumbar pillow.

everdebz yes, I agree, the frames, table and other darker tones are coming together nicely. Thanks so much for all of your input along the way here. Now concentrating on coordinating pillow and throw options. I hope that the art will get hung this weekend also. The blinds are scheduled to deliver this week as well. Not sure when the fireplace project will kick off, but i’m excited for it.

Monica I love your new coffee table, side table and lighting. They look great! I also like your choice to use the cream pillows with the navy lines. My vote for the pillow with the jute trim would be no. If you want to stay neutral...I like HIWE idea to use a charcoal color. You are doing a great job! Keep moving forward 🤗

kjoy thank you so much, couldn’t have done all this without this community!

That cream pillows with the navy lines are here! Picked up a few pillows locally to try with them, tell me what you all think?

    Option 2

    Option 3

Couldn’t find any locally that resembled the one Julie recommended, but here it is:

    May be a better picture

Will be getting the blanket/throw ordered next.

But starting to think about what should go on entertainment center below the TV and if anything should go on the coffee table?

Just found these at target and I think this is what Julie meant, to put a lumbar and a square in front of the existing ones. Same fabric, but different size, is this what you were Saying Julie?

Complimentary to navy stripe Square on one and lumbar and the other in front of the navy stripe?

everbez to your point, I decided to put my existing green patterned pillows with these, tell me what you guys think?

Do the two blue stripe..one green in front of the blue stripe and the lumbar with the other blue stripe..but I would still do one of the green block pillows I posted from Etsy instead of the green you have it just looks lack luster 🤷🏼‍♀️it needs that one stronger pop of contrast..and down inserts too! That is what gives them that designer look..you buy one size larger that the pillow cover you have..soma 20” needs a 22” insert..

I deleted the post I decided I didn't 'like'... I don't mind the pillows you placed, but wish for a zingy pillow in center....? If you think it good, buy just 1 more pillow.

Zingy like Julie's center-stripe pillow, with color... ?

and soft sketchiness of art, and soft green of pillows, could use contrast [a strip of color].

    Hi everyone,

It’s been a couple months since I posted because I had to pause everything to prepare for my son‘s grad party.

I think we finally arrived at something that ended up being a combination of input from you all and that my husband and I could agree on.

Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to get to the fireplace stone installation, but that is the only thing remaining. Thought I would share a couple pictures

    Oops, that posted twice!

Anyway, thank you very very much for all of your input, We are so happy with it. We receive a lot of compliments thanks to you all!

If I had to nitpick I think you need a larger cabinet under your tv as well.

kjoy1 Right, I don’t love The TV cabinet thing, but not likely to change it as my husband has no issue with it.

Instead, trying to get him to focus his efforts on finishing up the final details in the kitchen and looking to do the stone installation on the fireplace.

But thank you for your candid back!

    Looks great Monica :)
