Window seat drape/curtain dilemma! Please help!

Hello, I would love opinions on my dilemma. We are having decorative panels made for the outsides of each of our family room windows. The panels will span from about 6” under ceiling line to about an inch above floor on large picture window. I have a built-ins/window seats on each side of our TV wall but on the left side (pictured) there is an extra window that sits halfway over the seat area. Do I make all windows around window seat have panels that stop at the seat height or should that far left window be asymmetrical where one panel reaches the floor and only the panel over the seat stops at the seat?

These drapes are decorative only and will not move to cover windows. My feeling is that when the seat is decorated with pillows, etc, the asymmetry won’t noticeable and it will look more balances in the room if the far left drape matches the length of the drapes on picture window on opposite wall.

So your post is a little confusing since I don't see a window seat anywhere. However, you don't want short curtains at all and especially not one short and one long over a window. That would look very odd. I wouldn't put panels on that window period. If you're having them custom made, I think a roman or a faux roman in the same fabric would work better on that window.

Also, 1 inch off the floor is too short. You want them 1/4 inch or no more than 1/2 inch off the floor.

Shadylady, thank you very much for your response. This was extremely helpful. Sorry about the confusion, I should have included this pic of the “tv wall” so it would be easier to visualize where the window seats will be built. Based on your response, I will fully scrap the idea of panels. The windows do have white Horizon knife pleat romans going in...what do you think of simple cornices over the top of these three windows made from the same fabric as decorative panels that the picture window will have? Picture window will also have the same white Horizon knife pleat romans.

You just need something to tie the windows together, so since it'll have the same white roman as the picture window, that would be enough.

Were you planning on hanging panels on any of the other windows without seats, besides the picture window, or just the picture window? If so, I would skip the cornices or there will be too many layers.

If the panels will only be on the picture window, then a think cornices on the small windows would look nice.

(Sorry, still not sure which windows will not have seats under it : ) )

Thank you so much for weighing in! The window seats will be on each side of the TV wall under the windows shown in the above picture. :) So, other than the picture window on the far left (shown in original post) there are no other small windows with panels. This said, you have helped me so much! I will do cornices over the three small windows to match the material for the picture window decorative panels!! Phew!! I am so glad I came here to ask because I was about to finalize a quote for these panels that clearly would have been all wrong! Also going to make sure panels anywhere in house reach the floor since I just learned my 1” above floor is too short. Haha
