I like the idea of moving the cleaning zone off the island, since you have the space. With all the countertop available in this kitchen, with your current layout, the 36” next to your sink will likely default to be your prep zone (because of access to water). I was a bit confused in your description about which wall is north - it’s the wall with the range, right?

Can you post a clearer plan with measurements and doors/walls/windows more clearly marked? Right now it looks like you have a ton of underutilized space.

When there are corner windows, I like a corner sink, but that's not a popular option on this site. I would put the sink on the same run as the range, so it can provide a secondary prep space, while another helper can unload the DW, or gather dishes to set the table, without entering the prep/cooking zones. Does the range need to stay centered on the island and beams, or can it move to the right a 1-2 feet?

Thank you for taking the time to comment and provide suggestions Mama goose! We need to keep the range there for a hood I think. Question though- if we have the dishwasher on the other side of the upper cabinets , do you think that would be annoying for unloading? That is the one thing that is bothering me but I really like the idea of keeping the dishwasher over there.
