I'm staging two bedrooms. I found mattresses on sale at JC Penney's for about 65% off. Then at the ARC I found this Bernhardt Gentlemens chest, 39" long. It has a real marble top, very heavy, it comes off for moving it, & dove tailed drawers. $59.99. New it sold for $1350.

What a GORGEOUS piece of furniture, and what a deal Nicole!!! You are amazing!!!

Murraysmom I love what you bought, it is beautiful, but what is a dough box?

I recently got rid of my huge coffee table. It was beautiful and sturdy but I just could not move it around to clean any more because it was bulky and heavy. I found a set of 3 wood nesting tables for $50 on FB, just what I wanted, lightweight and easy to move.

I love nesting tables, Lucille. That was a good decision.

A dough box was used in the old days for holding bread dough while it was rising. It kept the bugs and flies off, I guess. The top opens. On mine it has two lids, side by side. Mine would have been made sometime between 1950 and about 1965 because that is the length of time the William Fetner company existed. So it wasn't really used for the purpose of rising dough, but a replication of the old boxes that were used for that purpose.

What’s ARC? That’s a great deal! I bought 15 Corona Snippers at Home Depot online last night for $3 each. The sale was for yesterday only.

Murraysmom....That's a Cool piece! I've never heard of a dough box, nor seen one....so that's an education for me! ☺ Plus a great price! Wow!

    Lucille....I love nesting tables!

summersrhythm....ARC=originally, the National Association of Parents and Friends of Retarded Children. The Arc becomes the first organization to put money into research on intellectual and developmental disabilities. Similar to Goodwill.

wow! 15 Corona snippers!? and...That's about 75% off! Deal!

    cooper...free is a great bargain! ♥

sjerin, yes, it's EBTH (Everything But The House). It's mostly local to Cincinnati and Columbus, OH. Anyone can bid. Bids start at $1.

I just don't find good deals at our thrift shops around here. They just want too much money...for example, I just saw a post on FB for our local Habitat for Humanity ReStore showed a photo of a sectional sofa that was nice but they said "original price $3600 we are selling it for only $1500" like that was a good deal or something. I don't know, I suppose if you were in the market for that certain sofa and had been thinking $3600 was too much then the $1500 price would be low but still, $1500 for a used sofa at ReStore seems ridiculous to me!

I’ve discovered that if you want a basic shade sail look for tarpaulins. They’re a fraction of the cost without the fancy name.

murraysmom.....I've never looked at EBTH....I put a ring on the watch list! :0)

arkansas girl....it used to be like "that" here, years ago. There are so many people now, the town has exploded...and the free on the curb exploded...and the prices for anything used...dropped!

    floral....so true. I purchased non-sunbrella cushions with a 5 year warranty on clearance for $5ea/Walmart.....real Sunbrealla started @ $120 ea x 6 .....what a difference!

Thanks, Murraysmom. Unfortunately I'm waaaaay too familiar with that site as my sister had a serious overspending problem with it. She even got our mom's hospice nurse needing a fix every day!

Beware of EBTH. There are some awful reviews for it. I don't need anything anymore, but I love to peruse facebook marketplace. Some people are practically giving away beautiful antiques and furniture. There are also those who are trying to charge really high prices, but those items don't sell. My best deal I got recently was when I bought a couple pair of cute jeans at JC Penney for 2.00 apiece. They were in the clearance area, but not marked 2.00 so I was shocked when they came up at that price. They are wide legs with a button fly and distressed bottoms. Super cute.

summersrhythm.....I purchased that sprayer for $10...so I'll go get an extra one! Thanks for the tip!

sleeperblues...$2! Dang! And...I just purchased a ring from a seller on Ebay...and a stone is missing. It's getting returned! So beware on ALL unseen internet purchases I say. Great return policy & free shipping....it's just a hassle.

Judy....that's a nice pots & pans set! I LOVE my Nesco Gardenmaster dehydrators. $6!!!!!!! WOW!

54"x39" silk blend Oriental rug. A Tabriz. It has no wear spots....yet the fringe is gone. The ends are bound. ♥ I found it at a consignment shop. I made them an offer.....$40.

I have been buying on EBTH for probably 10 years. Certainly from when they started. The company has changed a lot in those years, although the principle owners are still there. In the beginning you got to go to the home of the person selling. That was half the fun to go and see someone's home and the treasures they have. Now everything is online only. The problem I have found with it is that because it's so well known, people bid up outrageous amounts for things so there really aren't many bargains anymore. But every now and then, I get something I really like. It's fun to look and see what's being sold. There are other auction companies in my area, so there's always something going on.

6400sq ft. The rug will be in one of the 6 bathrooms, radiant heat flooring....it should feel nice. ♥

    How about YOU?

    last modified: 4 years ago

6,400 sq ft sounds lovely!! :-) Are you using the whole place or rent out a part of it? We moved in a 4,800 sq ft home, plus a 250 sq ft sunroom (wanted a sunroom for years). 6 bds and 4.5 baths. Our weekend place is close to your size, 13 bds and 9 baths, but we rent out part of it.

I'm just staging it. We've never taken baths/showers in ALL of the bathrooms yet. :0) Probably never will. Just wanted a BIG garage...really. And off the top of a hill, out of the wind.

Your place sounds plenty big enough....and your weekend place sounds HUGE. :0) 13 bedrooms! WOW! So cool!

Thursday at Walmart I got a purple turtle neck, a long sleeve baseball style pullover, light gray V neck sweater and a pair of lounging pants for $1 each.

For those looking for furniture try looking up used furniture. We got a few nice pieces for our camp from a resale store. A retired couple mostly picks up the furniture at auctions and then sells to the public.

nicole_ I love the detail on that ring!

I use a small all-wool oriental in our MBA, which has radiant heat under the porcelain tile. I have a pad under it, but worry that the rug will dry out. You think?

BTW, we have switched plans for buying a rental away from multi-family -- probably to a SFH. I'm SO appreciative of your comments about that!

Isn't there a newer bargain thread, Nicole? Well, no matter . . . Several years ago a friend bought two Bose Solo sound systems for his TVs. He said they didn't improve the sound (I'm not surprised, since he's hard of hearing), and he put them back in the boxes. Now he's moving to another state, and he gave me both Bose units--one for me and one for my son.

I just took advantage of this deal from No7 (Boots--a company in the UK). I've bought their skin creams before, including this one, so when I heard about this set of three face creams--day, night, and serum--I ordered it as a gift for my daughter. List price was $77.99, reduced to $58.49. The price using the BRADSYS code was $30 shipped. Good deal!

    You can find it here
