It is leaning toward the light. Rotate the plant periodically to prevent this.

It's limited by light and air movement indoors, which affects the plant's tendency to back-bud naturally. Pruning the trunk and branch will force back-budding. What I would do is, move the plant outdoors into dappled or open shade as soon as night temps allow (above 55*F), or move the plant in and out to avoid temps lower than 55*. When you move it outdoors, or just before, prune both trunk and the branch. Also, adequate nutrition (particularly N) plays an important part in natural back-budding, so you should start fertilizing regularly. It's highly unlikely you'll find anything better than Foliage-Pro 9-3-6 as your 'go to' fertilizer for houseplants and likely anything else you might choose to grow, though hibiscus and tomatoes would need a slightly different nutritional supplementation strategy.
