You have a gray roof, so I’d stick with white, gray, or blues. If the gable in question is the one over the bay window, there isn’t enough space to justify an accent, and there’s already enough going on with that facade.

Why are you changing the siding? The gray looks fine. No use adding accents on gable. A couple small things you could do:

--Add stained wood window trim to tie together your steps and the wooden cover on the right. Just showing this cottage-y gray house because it has a gray roof and golden wood accents at the door and porch as you do. Also, check out the landscaping. The board and batten is great, though I'm not sure if you need to change out your siding.

--Add a couple cedar Adirondack chairs and relocate the ones you have elsewhere.

--Although that little planting bed is tiny, it's a bit untidy. Well-designed landscaping would really improve it--a couple shrubs under the bay window, for example, and extending your slate trim near the entryway to the border.

I agree to skip the cedar shake on the roof peak for sure. I love the above inspiration picture. I would copy that...

Off topic: wondering why some houses with multiple elements ( brick, siding, cedar, different colored trim) look pulled together; while others look chaotic and owner would be told to eliminate elements? I guess that's why designers earn the big bucks!

Hi thank you for the advice, we have to change out the siding because although it looks ok, it has cracked in a few areas as it is over 15 plus years old. I agree with the cedar shake, it would look too busy.

If you're going with dark gray, wood trim and features will work well, too.
