Could be lovely, but consider the orientation of the room. If the setting sun is going to come in the windows and bounce back off the mirror, it could become uncomfortably bright and warm in there....

Thanks for your reply, but the early morning sun filtered through the treetops directly enters the room for a short time. Does that change your advice for this idea?

Seems like it would be a great option to try!

May depend on how high you must place it to catch the view. If you plan to arrange any of your furniture on that wall, the pieces and mirror must make a vignette. Mirror should hang 5-7" above a sofa for example.

Thanks for your thoughts and helpful information.

A large mirror sounds like a great idea. If you are talking about 2 chairs by the wall and they can be pulled away a bit, you can have a mirror that comes down a little further than the usual height above a couch, for instance.

Yes, I am thinking of two small low back swivel chairs on the mirror wall and another two chairs across placed at an angle and low enough that the backs of the chairs won't obstruct too much of the view at the window and the reflection of the view--with a small wine-like table between each set of chairs. Thanks for reminding me that I should lower the usual height of the mirror--whatever that should be. Now my concern would be all the space between the top of the mirror and the 10' ceiling. I do have a 10" ceiling molding that may help fill the space above the mirror. This is something I hope to consider. Thanks for your help!

Would a floor length mirror work? Will bring the focus down to eye level and make the area cozy.

IMO placing a large mirror directly across from windows has less than a 50% chance of being successful. Mirrors are often placed at 90 degrees to windows to expand the view and reflect the light.

Mirrors that have obscure or antique glass might be easier to live with than plain mirrors.

Yes, possibly something to consider and help fill the blank space above the mirror to ceiling molding. That might leave considerable space on each side of the mirror. I do have a freestanding bookcase that I am considering placing in the corner at an angle. I may just have to "play with it" to get the right mix and balance. Thanks again!
