I am wondering how these decorative feet look on my cabinet?

i had my cabinets built and installed by an Amish cabinet maker. I told him I would like decorative feet on the farmhouse sink cabinet. The picture I showed him looks similar to what he did but I am starting to wonder if it looks cheesy? i am not sure I can change it now. So just wanting some opinions. Thanks. Please dont mind the mess!

I think they stand out a bit. Not sure you need them at all.

any other trim or feet elsewhere?

photo shop w/o them. I think I'd remove them.

    bring in a nice runner

Beth H The one photo you posted the cabinet has feet. IDK how much of a process it would be to remove them and then I would need new molding along the bottom. its been about 8 months and I doubt he would remove them without charging me quite a bit. I may try and have my husband figure it out I guess. I also love the grey runner. I cant put rugs down right now because we are pottie training a new puppy and she pees on the rug if its out! I took all my area rugs up for now

it's looks ok w/the feet too. you've only given a tiny picture that zooms in on it, but i'm sure overall it looks fine.

and once puppy is trained, you can put back the rug.

    I wouldn't stress about it.

oh, see now when you show the whole thing, it looks nice. love the sink too.

    what handles did you use?

I'd prob go for one longer runner, or more of square rug rather than your two

see the size of this one? Looks better.

I found matte black handles on Amazon. Well besides that i made other choices i regret. But.. i never did anything like this before!!

I like the feet! Looked very Amish, a little detail that is simple but nice. Adds character and makes you kitchen stand out from all the other cookie cutter white shaker cabinet kitchens out there. The little kind of things kids reminisce about when they grow up.

    You did a great job.

to play up your black and take away all of the gray tones, I'd bring in a rug w/a bit of warmer tones. otherwise, w/the grays against your floor, it looks dull and muddled. if you get the polypropylene rugs, they're super cheap! easy to wash off too

if that's too colorful, try a nice black and white one like this.

I think the feet are a nice touch and add character. I would keep them! Also like @Beth H. : idea of one bigger rug instead of the two.

I agree with your original thought - they are a bit cheesy; as the only “feet” on the cabinets and a bit under scale, they look like an after thought. I’d remove them, or bulk them up with more trim.

they werent an afterthought at all. Like I said I did make decisions on my own that i regret. I am having doubts about the feet for sure but not sure if I can do much at the moment to change it.

I guess i could try to get them to look more like this By adding a strip of matching white wood across the front from one foot to the other

I understand, was agreeing with you on how they don’t quite achieve what I think you were going for. Look at Beth H’s pictures above and se how the foot are bulked up with mounding. This may help achieve the look you want; otherwise, take a jigsaw with a good blade and cut them off for a clean, straight line.

ooh love those first couple rug pics! That would make things pop; love the color with the black and white kitchen, that would be cute.

After a runner rug is put down, that's where the eye will go. Would guess most visitors looking @ your kitchen probably won't even notice or comment re: the feet, unless they are pointed out.

You didn’t ask, but I think you have way too much stuff on the counters right next to the sink, and the uppers seem quite low to me. The “feet” on the sink cabinet will trip you up for the first couple of weeks, but you will get used to them. Are the adjacent cabinet pull-outs trash bins or narrow dishwashers?

I think the shape is the problem and down the road if they don’t grow on you, they shouldn’t be too hard to saw off and any carpenter could probably do a template, cut and install. It’s a nice feature though.

Why don’t you just live with it awhile until your focus changes. You did say it was an Amish cabinetmaker. They are into plain and functional. I like it.

I think they go with the black hardware and counters you have chosen. Simple and yet adorable too.

Felizlady Hi! I try very hard to keep my countertops cleaned off. The pantry is not built yet and with kids.. grandkids and 2 dogs I have a hard time keeping up in stuff. I did take the pictured when things were a bit on the messy side for sure.. Also Maureen.. I like the shape of the feet in that cabinet much better. It is possible he could remake them for me I guess. I hate bothering him but I may at some point. They are screwed in from the top of the cabinet so it probably would not be a BIG issue!

I love the feet❣️Well done! I especially like the fact that your cabinets were made in America by the Amish❣️Your kitchen is stunning.

Your kitchen is beautiful and I too like the feet. Try this, put some black construction paper in the kick plate area between the feet. It’s possible you might find that more pleasing to your eye as it would mimic an actual legged piece of furniture. If that is the case, then you could paint that area black.
