An electrician can easily move the lighting so it is centered over the sink. We had to move our lighting so it would be centered over our new sink and pivot mirror when we had our small bathroom remodeled. We did some spackling, sanding, priming and painting around it and it came out great.

Have you considered pendant lighting

I have not considered that option. i was trying to get around using an electrician. we are doing three bathrooms and trying to cut corners where we can. i do like that idea though and it would be an attractive option.

I think you need to center your mirror over the vanity, and light fixture must be replaced and centered. It just won't look right off center. One other option might be one of those mirrors with built in LED lighting, and just drywall over the existing fixture opening, then supplement with overhead lighting elsewhere in the room.

We think you might be able to do pendant lighting and here are a few ideas for mirrors as well that might just work in your bathroom.
