I need design help and advice on a half bath conversion on concrete.

I'm in process of converting a half bath into full bath. The half bath is off of an unfinished laundry room so I had wall torn down between the two rooms to make one. The space is 138 inches x 144 inches with a back wall that comes across 96 inches. I want to add a freestanding tub on the concrete slab with the freestanding faucet. The floor has to be jack hammered for this already. The washer dryer will remain in this room along the back wall that's 96 inches. I'm not sure if I'm putting a sliding door to enclose w/d yet or just leave it open to room.
I'd appreciate any design ideas as far as layout, tub selection, tile, flooring, paint and thoughts on the freestanding pieces. This is an extra bathroom that will mostly be used by me for soaking tub. Guests can use as well, however we have 2 full bathrooms upstairs. Thanks in advance

I take it expense is no object because most people would do it however plumber say's requires minimunm concrete work or at least not an excessive amount of busting out and repouring.

@klem1 some of work we are doing ourselves.

@calidesign I never do that with my remodels🤦🏽‍♀️, lol. This is the best I do personally. I've had the contractors provide me better drawings for work we had done in past.

Maybe it’s just me, but putting doors in front of the laundry machines is a waste of money. At our house, they are used constantly so having regular doors would mean they are open all the time and in the way. I don’t think they are so “ugly” as to need covers when not in use.

WHAAAT! You mean to say washing your dirty laundry right out in public is ok?

Forgive me Red I couldn't resist. I'm with you and I might add covers for toilet lid, toaster, coffee pot and a few other things i don't find piticularlly ugly.

@Beth H. : absolutely I have looked at pictures I'm just terribly indecisive. The bathroom floor has to be jack hammered and so I'm wanting to make sure I get the best design for space. I'm not certain what size vanity I want and if I should do a double. I'm also uncertain on the freestanding faucet for tub. Will it have issues and since it's concrete floor am I asking for trouble sooner rather then later. So many things to think of and I've been in my home over 15 years with no water issues ever. You'd think I'd have decided and be set on things but my Libra moon and stellium always messes me up with deciding things.🤦🏽‍♀️😖

@RedRyder yes I told my electrician that I really didn't care about the w/d being out in open and he thought that was nuts. He said I'm spending alot of money so why not put that behind a door. I agree door wouldn't make much sense. Thank you for chiming in. ☺

Is there a guest room attached to this space ? IMO this is just plain weird unless there is a bedroom near by . As for a free standing tub they are a PITA to get in and out of and honestly only look good in huge bathrooms and certainly not in a laundry room

I do like a door to hide my tub,be it cute or ugly.. Well maybe not so much when I'm not in it.

One should never start a renovation or "conversion" without a complete and final plan. Never. You have so many decisions still to be made, money to be lost, and I actually think this project of combining laundry and bathtub should never have started.

@Shannon_WI why not combine the 2?

@Patricia Colwell Consulting no the guestroom is upstairs with another bathroom. This is on my lower level before my basement level. I've seen plenty of pictures of laundry rooms that have bathrooms in same room. It's quite common where I live.

If you have any other insights please share.

@User there won't be piles of laundry. My laundry never has had piles of clothes just laying around, clean or dirty.

No one can help you with specifics because it's impossible to know what your space is like from your drawing. I wouldn't want to walk past the toilet and sink to reach the laundry area. You likely you have options for a better layout, but you're on your own without better info.

@calidesign do you have any layout ideas? The picture shows measurements which is most important aspect. Waterlines will be anywhere along the wall sides. The plumber recommended putting laundry in back area as it's already near there.

    Where are the doorways?

Ok I worked hard on this😄

@calidesign I added some extra details. It's a pretty big space.

Is it possible to change the doorway going into the bathroom to that smaller side wall so you're facing the tub when entering, and not the toilet? Or do you have room at the bottom of hte stairs to put a door on that wall so it's closer to the laundry? I'd put sliding doors over the laundry so you're not looking at it while using the tub, but give yourself as much space as possible inside the laundry area so you can install a hanging rod and have some countertop space. You could also consider using stacking appliances.

@calidesign yes the door could go there. I had thought about that, but as I told you I'm terribly indecisive. There will be a lot of space on wall with washer dryer so I'm doing shelves for detergent and to hang clothes. Also plan to have another storage cabinet in room. Thank you so much for your thoughts and suggestions.

Haven't decided if we will tile floor and up wall or just stamp the floor and do something else with walls. It's concrete so could have it stamped.
