What color kitchen cabinets would you choose.

We have picked out white Marble countertops and tranquility ultra Acacia golden vinyl plank flooring, but are having a hard time choosing cabinets. I love dark, and moody and originally wanted black painted cabinets. Our kitchen designer thinks we should go with a dark grey/charcoal stained wood.... what do you think looks good with our countertops and flooring? Appliances are stainless steel. Walls are a two toned light and dark grey, but we get alot of natural light, so the house is not dark.

I couldn't get the picture to post in the original question, but here are the samples we have.

I have all the same questions as Beth H. And emphasizing that charcoal stained wood could be anything, like an enormous spectrum of shades and wood grains, so post a pic. Plus what is the ceiling height.

I like C with your other choices, you said moody and you have natural light. D would work as well.

not liking the floor with those counters at all. My hunch is you really want the floor.... I love wood as well. Stick with the floor...take cabinet B...it will stand the test of time but pick a different counter.... like the big red X one.....then you're good. Try the champagne bronze hardware with all this.....nice touch. C D E cabs do nothing for me...just deadening...if you pick one of those at least put light cabinets on the wall.

C if you like more traditional, E (looks like flat panel) if you like modern

@RoyHobbs we have 8 ft. Ceilings. The house is open concept, so the kitchen only has two walls. The kitchen is open to the livingroom, diningroom, sunroof, and an open doorway into a utility room.

So, I like your choices on the floors / marble. The cabinet colors I don't care for.

obviously the white is fine. forget B. With your warm yellow toned floors, it doesn't go together.

    C looks to be ok.

D is a no. She's using maple? birch? maybe Alder? and it's the wrong gray tone. I think it looks great w/your marble, not so much w/the vinyl planks.

let me show you some examples.

This charcoal island is similar to your C choice. But the floors here are a cooler charcoal gray oak

and here's a shot of the flooring you like next to it. Which do you think looks better?

Your gray stained wood sample would be similar to this. the diff is, the wood grain wouldn't match up w/the LVP grain.

I'm thinking the gray choices would also look nice w/the color flooring. I think your wood stained D option would look best w/this flooring, or something other wood tone.

This gray tone is nice w/these slightly darker toned floors. I like the gold hardware w/it since it works w/the flooring. This gray is more of a Dovetail type of gray.

BTW, have you thought about doing the island in the gray and the perimeter in the white?

This floors isn't identical to yours, but it's similar in tone. The charcoal on this island would be very close to BM Kendall Charcoal or Chelsea gray. They are both charcoal w/yellow undertones, which is why they work well w/warmer wood tones.

you said you wanted black. what about Wrought Iron? It's not quite black, but it is a darker charcoal color. and would look good w/your floors

I actually used this color on my own island with real marble countertop

you can see how it works well w/different warmer wood tones. walnut, french oak are the two main wood species in the room.

Pictured here w/your flooring choice and the marble, I think it looks better than the other choices.

    Pair it w/some nice pendants

some wood elements like the stools, and either the gold or the matte black hardware

and I think it looks great!

have you considering a slightly lighter looking LVP like this oak?

walls being two toned??? means exactly what? is your space large to handle the three tones of medium wood/ black and then whitish counters? and along with two toned walls???? You have a lot of shifts of tones...... this works mostly in larger spaces.

@Beth H. : I love the wraught iron... and yes, the hardware, barstools, and pendants will be similar to your pictures with the wrought iron. That is absolutely my favorite look. I think I just needed someone to confirm it! The floor is hubby's pick and already ordered. Our house is open concept with alot of grey tones, so the dark wrought iron looks perfect without being too matchy. We actually have our interior doors painted very similar to the wrought iron and love them. I think the white is out for us, as our kd and others don't think it will go with anything in our house.... thank you for all your imput. Your kitchen is beautiful!

Just curious: why did the KD say the white won’t go with your house?

how can white not go w/anything?

    sorry, don't agree.

doing all of the cabs in the dark color is going to be, well, dark.

why not go for the two tone?

@RedRyder and @Beth H. : nothing in our house is white except a few accents. Everything is grey tones, wood, black, greens or blues. And since the kitchen is so open to most all the other rooms (I can even see it from the hallway, bedroom and bathroom) having one corner of the main living space white cabinets will definitely look out of place.

rhoda, ok. having not seen your space, it's hard for us to make that determination. Photos are always helpful, otherwise, it's just a shot in the dark

(I didn't have one piece of white anything in my house and I went w/white perimeter cabs. didn't seem to look out of place. I have a black wall, black sofa, wood furniture, and other darker elements. )

There are many beautiful washed out grays you can consider. My friend redid her house in a gray that looks like clay. It’s very soft and quite lovely. Since a real white is too shocking for your house, look at pale, pale grays. I wish I knew the color of my friends’ kitchen but it might have been unique to the manufacturer.
