Would you add a Rug or no Rug?

Office Remodel. Trying to decide if I should add a rug and if so, how large. What about this 8" ft. circular one under my desk area? It would extend out approx. 1-1/2 feet beyond desk. Welcome your feedback!

I think it depends on how you use the space / I find rugs in an office a PITA to move my cahir around so test how you move around in the space . From what I see I think you could do a rug in front of the armchairs.

I‘d try to break up as much of the tile as possible and the size, shape and location below may work well. Be sure to use a low pile rug if extended to under chair.

You could place armchairs facing desk as furniture is all lined up along walls. Place stools/bar like piece to where chairs were, (as they in the way anyway) and rug will now ground that space and room in general.

I would add a rug (but not that rug, sorry) out in front of the desk, defining that little sitting area and also giving you something nicer to walk on as you cross the room.

(Speaking of, what's the deal with the little bar/console table thing that looks like it's blocking the way to the next room? Is this office set up in the best possible way?)

Haven't you ever watched Mad Men! They all have a bar in their office :-) I plan to use it as a fun piece while entertaining. It doesn't really block the walk-way as door openings are extra wide.

IMO the round rug might look like a throw rug in this room and that would be cheesy.

    I like that look! Thanks.

Did you pull that from an available purchase site or was that just a stock pic?

I thought the bar was a jewelry display cabinet and that perhaps you were a diamond dealer! Do you see clients in this office, or not? I gather from the bistro height chairs that aren't pulled up to the desk that you don't. Those really don't invite anyone to get comfortable in the room!. Do you do Zoom or other online conferences from here? If so, you might want a different set up to present yourself in the best light, unless you have a ring light or other electric option. I would eliminate the gray piece with the glass top and move the bar there. I like the rugs Beverly shows; right size and color, plus nicely masculine for your space. Once the bar is moved, you'll have a great wall for some of those photos in the next room. The grouping is getting too wide for the credenza under them. A proportionate arrangement should be no wider than 75% of the width of the credenza. Another gallery covering no more than 75% of the stairwell wall will help both spots. Then hang the mirror piece vertically above the bar. The city skyline piece looks like it might be a better fit hung 5" above the mantel in the adjacent room.

I like the pics with the large square rugs. Then those armchairs should be pulled up onto the edge of the rug facing your desk. Chairs and couches always look so strange pushed against a wall, like you're making room for some other activity. Bring people in closer.

I agree with others, that bar looks awkward and uncomfortable.

I like the bar area. You have a nice office space.

In case you order rugs online, it is good to order the smallest size first, to check for color, texture, and to get a better sense of how the rug might work in your space. That way, you potentially save yourself the hassle of returning a huge rug.

    You’re welcome.

Here’s one more. Looks like it may only be available in one size, but might be nice - if size would work for you.

Still prefer the rugs Beverly showed. Sounds like this is less of an office than a bar, right?
