who has a paint color or design recommendation for open plan…

I can’t decide what color to do the walls and trim in this space and if there are layout opportunities that I haven’t thought of yet. I’m willing to get a new couch and maybe new chairs. The table is a place holder and isn’t part of the usual room so that could be changed as well. I like modern classic style and also the obvious mid century modern. Any ideas? Would love to hear them!

IMO before choosing wall color make sure all the lighting is LED 4000K this will mimic daylight and keep all color true in all times of the day. As for actual colors what is your favorite color/ If you are looking for a neutral but not whaite I love a really pale grayed green like Gray Wisp BM I use it often in new builds where wall color needs to be decided before anything is in the space . I sometimes cut it 25% . IMO a much better neutral than beige , greige or gray. I love it with wood tones too,

I think this depends on your vision. Neutrals are safest. I like white trim - we had SW Pure White in our last house for trim, and I thought it was great. We are putting it in our new house as well (as trim). Our last house had SW Morris Room Gray throughout, which I liked - it was a chameleon and looked different in every room, so it wasn't boring. It could look like a true gray, but it also could look more brown gray, or even green/gray, depending on light. But it was also darker, and after 5 years I was ready for a change. In our new house I'm doing SW Pure White trim with SW Drift of Mist on the walls. I'm a bit nervous about the Drift of Mist but DH didn't want white (I did) so that was our compromise. The model home had SW Gossamer Veil and that looked good as well, just a bit more color than I wanted.

Thanks for the ideas and graphic everyone! Glad you brought up the mantle, that’s probably on the chopping block as well. This whole room and connected kitchen need updating. I’ve been thinking about a light green (behr jojoba) or blue for cabinets. Thoughts? Just love getting ideas, even if they’re totally different from what I have in mind

Beverly - did you recommendation with the fireplace and looks great! Now we’re trying to decide if a color change should happen. Maybe painting the stone and hearth gray? Open to other ideas. Here is a color scheme that we like but are unsure of and a picture of our progress

Here is some visual with blue trim. I am not a fan .

Wow thank you for the rendered images, those are so helpful! I agree with you that the blue trim is actually my least favorite when I see it on the walls. The first two look much better. What do you think about making walls and trim all one color? Not sure if that would be boring or not. Open to color ideas!

You can go with the same color but different shin. Semi gloss , satin for trim and flat for walls.
