A Look at "De la Vina Mystery"

"De la Vina Mystery" was found in Santa Barbara, CA, in front of an early 1900's Craftsman home on De la Vina St. It was preserved by the fact that it was growing INSIDE a big Eugenia Hedge. (The hedge had to be planted after 1914, when it was introduced in CA. but PROBABLY some time after the massively-destructive 1925 earthquake there.)

After growing it for a few years, I'm sure it's a nice vigorous clone of 'La Reine'. It can get a little rust here, but only on old leaves, so it's not hard to control it. Aside from all that, it's a wonderful rose here, I suspect it's a virus-free clone. Produces successive flushes through the year, only slowing down in our uber-mild winters. And it's both beautiful and fragrant.
