Furniture placement in a family room with two focal points

We would love your input! We are looking to purchase new furniture for this space. We will be keeping an entertainment center on one wall, which creates two focal points. What are the best pieces to purchase to maximize seating?
We are deciding on similar pieces- couch/loveseat/ two accent chairs/coffee table or do we try a sectional with coffee table and accent chair which would in turn close off the opening to the kitchen?
Any input is appreciated!

Need a floor plan to really help. nice room .are you painting or replacing the flooring? would you consider painting the wall unit?

The room is approximately 16x 20.5, with a 12 foot opening to the kitchen as shown in the photo. Windows are south facing. And the fireplace can be seen from the foyer entry.
The furniture was all left to us from the previous owners. We are open to painting or replacing it, as well as painting the walls and carpet to brighten the space. Thank you again for any input!

To maximize seating you will have to have a sofa or sectional with it's back to the kitchen. This is not a bad thing, as you can put a sofa table behind it.
