looks like a tree .. cant really see leaves ... if you dust off the soil around the sprout.. you ought to see the nut.. if any ... and most of us would know an avocado seed if we was it ...

Thanks. Shiny stuff is tinfoil, to try and deter Mrs. Squirrel from my plants. I've decided to just dig up whatever that other thing is, growing in my pot. I realized that even IF it is an avocado, that it would take many years to produce fruit, and even then, it would likely be nothing like what I could expect to find, say at the supermarket. So... living in NYC, and even having access to a rooftop, it doesn't sound like it's worth having an avocado plant...

I believe it is an avocado, but they are toxic to squirrels.

Thank you for saying that, floral. I started watching, but when I saw how long the video was, I gave up. Apologies, and I do feel bad about it, but it takes only a minute or 2 for me to read and respond to a post. 5 minutes is a long time to sit and watch a video, and then --- what? take notes so I can remember the points?
