Front door color. What’s new? What’s fun? What’s a bad idea?

Replacing the front door of a 150 year old seaside Dutch Colonial. shingled walls, asphalt roof. gray on gray.

The current front door is blue. I love blue. I also love red front doors. Mostly, I’m excited that I get to choose. The current front door came with the house. It is oversized and we are replacing it with a standard size and a sidelight. (I have pictures of the house that show the original door was double.)

I like large front doors and often opt for double ones when possible I need to see the door you are getting but really any color will work Maybe post a pic from further back too. IMO what ever color you choose I would make sure the furniture has cushions that match to bring it all together

Your house is pretty and unique! The oversized door is special and in proportion. How about a pink like your flowers?

Your home is lovely❣️I agree with Mama Cita: a rosey pink or coral color would be my choice.

Don't remove the “oversized” door. It is part of your house’s charm. Homeowners pay extra for this look.

The door doesnt work. it doesnt close right. huge drafts in the winter. the storm door sticks and you have to fight with it to close it. it has to be replaced.

i am a big preservationist. but this door is bad.

Never considered pink im going to consider it. thanks for the idea.

Whatever color you chose, paint the sidelight white since the door is recessed. You're lucky because almost any color will work.

Here are some of my favorites from Benjamin Moore:

We have a business isgn out front. (we are an inn.) Should I consider the door matching the sign? I like the thought of matching the hydrangeas, But But, of course, thats August. What about when the hydrangeas go and the Montauk Daisies take over?

I love blue doors on gray shingled seaside homes! We just painted ours Farrow & Ball's Cooks Blue.

I am not usually a pink lover but I think a nice coral could work.

    Kidding!!

I like the idea of carrying the sign color to the door - that could be very pretty. Does the sign color look good with your siding?

I love the Dusty Mauve @houssaon posted. I haven't seen that before - may steal that for our front door!
