Where do you live? You might contact a local antique shop to get names of appraisers to take a look. Otherwise, try contacting Sotheby's and send photos to them to get an idea of worth.

I'm assuming there are not signatures on the panels? You could try Google to find appraisers in your area.

Interesting....those are more than just stained glass. Those panels with the naked cherubs....how is that done? afre they painted? Lithophane? Can you read thew ords written around the outside?

Seems obvious they are not from a church or even an ordinary home.

I think before getting an appraisal you need to find out what they are....You don't want someone to come in and say " 19th century stained glass panesl....$250 per panel". They are unusual,

@orangecamera, not really, they are very elderly and don't have email, etc. I would have to contact their nephew to communicate with them and I feel bad bothering them. I'd like to try to figure it out on my own if possible.

@lindac92 the words are hard to make out, we can read some of them but not all. I will take better photos to see if someone else has more luck!

@jane__ny I live in Chicago. Sotheby's is a good idea. I'm sure there are lots of antique dealers/shops/appraisers in Chicago, I will start researching.

the panel with a cherub stoking a fire under a kettle is an illustration of the demonstration of first steam turbine ever built. It is an accurate representation of the apparatus.
